Wörgl gets another concrete bowl

Wörgl in Austria has nabbed itself a second concrete bowl after some initial building work problems.

Due to a mains gas pipe running underneath the park and a ‘no build’ law, the original plans for the skate plaza section had to be ditched. But after a bit of jigging about, building a second bowl instead, and moving the whole thing just 4 meters over to one side, construction has started!

The place looks sick so far, but check the amazingly named www.muckefuckskateboards.com for more pics and continuous updates. A huge thanks goes to the PTR Crew and locals for getting this thing going. Flights to Austria are pretty cheap right now and the women definitely aren’t, so get yourselves over there as soon as it’s finished.

Nope, for all you pool shredders waiting for sick footage of gnarl, hold that thought. This is another one of those “got fuck all to do with skateboarding” news pieces that pops up once in a while, but should make you smile. If it don’t – please kill yourself.

Meanwhile 2 to get cash injection

We are proud to announce that Westminster Council asked us to attend a consultation session last week alongside key locals, the UKSA, TSEOU and a few skate park builder types. The result is that Meanwhile 2 will be given £90,000 towards a refit and that the Crossfire Gap Jam actually was very much noticed by councillors and played its part.

Before you sit there and complain that the legendary gap and bowls shouldn’t be torn down, don’t worry they will probably stay intact. More information will be posted on here soon as the design of the project and the appointment of a good company to build it is in place.

If you attended this jam, give yourself a teddy bear and a cigar as you should be proud. Big thanks to LovenSkate, Sidewalk, UKSA, Globe Shoes, Almost Skateboards and all the UK skate companies (who turned up to represent) for taking the innitiative to get involved.

You can see a full feature of the event in this months issue of Sidewalk Magazine, pick one up today.

New Adio and Real shoe releases

Adio have released new shoes for Real riders Nick Dompierre and Ernie Torres.

Both shoes feature in the Limited Projects range and are what you’d expect from Adio- simple designs yet do the job really well.

The Hamilton looks nice with its classic suede trainer feel, but I really like the look of Torres’ shoe the Marx RE in really low-cut suede and simple toe piece. If both Ernie and Nick have had input in the design of these, you know these shoes are going to withstand ankle-shattering tre flips and frontside flips down stairsets big enough to give you vertigo.

Click your way over DLXSF to have a look see.
