Vans Uk Tour Blog Pt 4

03.08.07

“The demo yesterday was another ruler with a real comedy best trick comp for kids including the firecracker challenge.

A heated wall ride session at the park saw a number of tricks done that will probably never get repeated with H, Church Hell and Rogie all getting stuck in.

With the bus now at full capacity the crew is strong and everyone is still having a really good time.

Today sees the much anticipated arrival of Danny Wainwright and a demo and signing at Stoke. We’re just carrying out some running repairs to the bus in the hotel car par before hitting the road to Stoke. Enjoy todays’s video blog courtesy of Marc Churchill cheers – Powely

Look out for a full weekend update on Monday…

Thinking of skating this weekend?

Jake Brown isn’t.

And I’m fucking scared of dropping in again like a little girly 10 year-old. I want full pads, helmet, bollock protector and eye goggles before going anywhere near my board again.

Get well soon Jake.

Vans Tour Blog Part 3

2nd August – 6.52pm

“After a night in Glasgow we’re all refreshed and ready for the long slow drive to Blackpool. As you can see from the clip, yesterdays shop visit to Focus and demo at Kelvingrove went really well. The rain held off all day so we even got to hit up a new street spot after the demo.

Yesterdays best trick comp was a fly out jam out of the bowl which was good entertainment for us as Manhead landed a 540 and the local kids were really going for it. We’re meeting back up with James Gardner and H today who’ve been away for a few days on the Toy Machine tour and band duties respectively. The much anticipated arrival of Danny Wainwright is sure to be a highlight of the day.” – Powley

Kelvingrove Vans Tour Diary

1st August 2007 – 1.10pm

The guys from Vans have managed to get themselves over to Kelvingrove skatepark for a day of snaking each other and trains. Part 2 of their Vans Tour Diary up now on the Crossfire video blog.

“Yesterday was technically our day off but after a lie in everyone was keen to skate and the weather was good so we hit up Dunblane skatepark.

Within minutes Olly Tyreman collided with Ross McGouran resulting in a trip to hospital and a broken wrist! Olly has just gone back to have it re-cast and Grove has gone along for the ride and to get his own wrist checked out.

The weather in Edinburgh is a little sketchy today but I’m assured it will be fine for the demo later at Kelvingrove. Sorry for the brief news today but everyone is in the bus waiting for me to leave!”

Ben Grove Vans Tour Video Update

31 July 2007 – 5.30pm

The Vans UK Team have been shredding Scotland. Powley just sent us this little update and also a video blog from Ben Grove with a few tricks in from the weekend. Go Cookey..

“Technically it was our day off but we ended up going to Dunblane skate park, we did not get here until 4am after leaving the Redcar Demo at 10pm which was by far the best demo so far. The drive was made more comical thanks to a couple of crates of beer and a bottle of Vodka – Howard, Hugo and Manhead managed to stay awake and killed everyone with the loudhailer siren!

Ross McGouran has joined us now on the road fresh from the Rotterdam comp and Howard has gone home for some band duties for one day. We are heading for Glasgow for a visit to Focus at midday then onto Kelvin Grove where we meet up with Pete King and Chris Pfanner from Austria. More updates tomorrow….”

Todays Vans Shoes winners are:

New etnies skateboard team manager

etnies would like to welcome new Skateboard Team Manager, Heath Brinkley, to the company.

Heath’s been in the skateboarding industry since 1997, and before coming on board at etnies, was the Team Manager at DC Shoes for three years. Heath also started Logic video magazine, filmed full-time for City Stars and has filmed parts for countless skate videos over the years.

More importantly, Heath’s ability to recognize, assemble and nurture up-and-coming talent is what sets him apart from the rest. Names like Paul Rodriguez, Mikey Taylor, Sean Malto and Devine Calloway should ring a bell. Know that Heath played an important role in helping them get to where they are today, and worked with them to build some very respectable and influential skate squads. That being said, Heath is a modest man and his actions speak louder than his words, so expect new and exciting things from Heath and etnies in the near future.

Welcome to etnies, Heath!
