This weekend saw DIY Bristol roll out their filming comp with the simple brief: Make a two minute film focused on skateboarding and having fun. The winner can be viewed below with the runners up. The Poacher Man took the honours by Team Kez featuring Dave Snaddon and more locals, great idea.
SBT Weekend in the City 2015

Danny McCourt’s edit for this years Weekend in the City filming comp has footage of Chris Barrett, David Walton, Ash Burgess, Daniel James, Matt Sheerin and Danny himself. Also features ‘New Order’, vinyl records, slamming, blood, hill bombing and a camera from 1983. Get some.

The Manchester scene have had a Weekend in the City filming comp going on this month, get locked into new footage of Seb Batty, Rikk Fields, Isaac Wilkinson, Callum Walkden, Matt Woolfenden and Liam Kay from Isaac Wilkinson’s edit.

Skaterdater (1965)

Not many skate videos have won Palme d’Or for the Best Short Film at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival, but Skaterdater scooped it back in 1965 and rolled on back home to America with the prize – pre Dogtown & Z Boys.
Produced by Marshal Backlar and written and directed by Noel Black, this clay wheel story about a girl and rival skate gangs is a timeless classic that didn’t even need words. Get the teas on and press play.
