Slam City Skates have raised the bar in websight trickery with their new lookbook, unveiled this week on the shop’s website. Following in the style of online webzine page turners such as Tweakerzine and others, the lookbook serves as a catalogue for the shop’s products. Slick produce as always from Slam, including flicks of Jensen amongst other familiar faces getting their
handsome-boy-modelling-school face on.
As an added bonus, the lookbook includes an unsurprisingly styled out promo from the Covent Garden skate rats. Grainy footage that compliments that Neal’s Yard atmosphere perfectly, and of course, the usual bangers from Snowy, Lucien Clarke, Blueprint and the Hold Tight London crowd.
Have a look and brighten up your day why don’t you?
Back to the Banks results
While Meanwhile 2 got shut down once again this weekend, those at the Know Skateboarding Project were at the Back To The Banks jam in Brooklyn.
Zared Baset took the $1000 on the bank to ledge combo best trick with a frontside 5-0 grind to fakie. Ryan Bobier and Jake Donelly split the cash between them on the rail with a frontside blunt to fakie and flip frontboard respectfully. And Matt Allen took home some cash money for generally killing it throughout.
Have a peep at a few gems from the rail competition here, look out for the catch on that nollie heel over the rail!
In celebration of Terell Robinson getting bumped up to pro status, Darkstar are offering TEN free decks up for grabs.
Ten copies of Terell’s brand new pro model on Darkstar will be dished out to the lucky winner. Check out Terell’s pro debut video here.
New Element technology
Element have combined the strength of carbon fibre with their fibrelight technology to form their new range of Push Construction decks.
The end result is likely to be a deck that carries a barrel load of hard-man strength but is deceptively light at the same time. Nice.
Head over to the Element site for more info.
Silver welcome Chaz Ortiz
Silver Trucks have introduced Chaz Ortiz as their latest rider to join their squad.
The 14 year old Zoo York activist will now be ridin’ dirty, with Silver. Check out the website for a video feature of the crew’s latest trip into Barcelona. I hear there’s some good spots there…
Meanwhile 2 was officially re-opened with a bang this weekend as the annual Gap Jam in association with Globe Shoes, SUSO Drinks, Westminster Council and Freestyle Skateparks went off in Royal Oak.
The Globe ledge comp was won by Nicky Howells and Dan Wileman and the hip comp saw Blind Skateboards rider Chris Oliver frontside flip the wall into the street.
Aaron Sweeney took the money from the new transfer line from bank to bowl with a backside 360 in front of a packed house. Kevin McKeon, Rob Smith, Steak, Horsey, Matt Davies and many more also flew the flag over the new line. This years Gap jam was taken by Crayon Skateboards and Globe shoes rider Dan Wileman whose bigspin flip was enough to shut the place down after 10 minutes but Dave Snaddon didn’t give up until his backside flip went down perfectly right at the whistle.
Thanks to everyone who made it out and of course all of the UK skate companies and teams that made the trip down there as we could not have done this without you. Look out for a feature here this week with a full video edit.
