Go Skateboarding Day!

It’s here once again! On the 21st June every year International Go Skateboarding Day arrives and promtly tells us to go shred our local spots, but where will you be shredding today?

Have you bunked school or college or taken a day off work to heat your urethane?

Events are happening all over the world but have your local scene planned anything. Last year, Crossfire organised a session with the Habitat Team in London at Bay 66 which was great fun, sadly this year we have moved our attention to making sure you will have the best street skate comp of the year at London’s Southbank, so this Saturday 24th June will be our official Go Skateboarding Day this year and what a buzz it will be.

The sun is out, stop reading this and GO SKATE!

Round 2 Results From Hamburg Bowlbash

The second round of the annual Globe Bowlbash got underway in Hamburg over the weekend of June 3rd and 4th. Apparently the turnout was hampered due to the German’s love for beer on a long weekend, but that didn’t mean they weren’t killing it on their boards. The bowl featured extensions and a mad over-vert corner pocket with coping.

Naturally, this obstacle took a few out, but not Daniel Beck who hung upside down and set the coping on fire with his tricks. Despite a great show, it was Anders Tellen who took first place with some ridiculous stalefish grabs over the hip and massive backside airs.

The next round will take place in Burnley, England, over the July 15th-16th weekend. Expect some serious carnage!

Perdy Comp Incoming!

There’s nothing like a local contest to support the scene in the summer. If you live in the area, or feel like making the trek, the skaters at Perdy will be holding a comp for over and under 16’s with loads of prizes (kindly supplied by A Third Foot, Death Skateboards, Spine Skateboarding and Gnargore) and malarkey on July 9th from 11am onwards. All the money raised will go towards renovating the already existing park. Good stuff!

Fresh concrete is laid at SB

This week will see more additional obstacles being installed at the Southbank. On Sunday night/Monday morning, Badger and Zac went down to the Southbank with a car full of self levelling concrete, water and gravel to kick start the build of a brand new manual pad where the cobbled stones have always been.

They will also install a rail that will be attached so you will be able to ollie onto a double rail into the drop over the other side. This should be finshed for Saturday, please do not skate it until it’s finished.

As well as the best UK street skaters from all over the country, various riders from the Emerica European Team such as Julian Dykmans, Jo Lorenz, Pontus Alv, Maxime Genin, Oli Buergin, Adam Stoddart, Vaughan Baker, Woody, Joe Gavin, Rory Milanes plus a couple of Element European teams will be in attendance. More when we get it.

Summer In The City

The urban athlete crew of City Skateboards has just lost two of its professional riders supposedly in a bid to concentrate on its amateur squad.

I doubt it’ll take long for Pete Eldridge and Mike Maldonado to get hooked up again. In the meantime, City looks like this – Terrell Robinson, Jason Wakuzawa, Jeremy Reeves, Russ Milligan, Tony Montgomery and Alex Klein.
