MGMT announce London show

MGMT have announced details of an intimate London club gig which will take place next month.

The band, whose hotly anticipated second album Congratulations will be released on April 12th, are set to play the Heaven venue on March 18th.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday 24th February) at 9am.

Deftones announce new album

Deftones have announced details of their hotly anticipated sixth album, entitled Diamond Eyes.

This will be the band’s first record since bassist Chi Cheng fell into a coma, and will be available from May 18th. The album will feature Deftones’ stand-in bass player Sergio Vega.

Meanwhile the first single from Diamond Eyes has been made available through the band’s website, and is titled Rocket Skates.

KRS-One & DJ Premier return to the boom bap

One of rap’s true classics, Return of the Boom Bap, may well get a sequel later this year.

Producer DJ Premier has revealed he has begun work with KRS-One on an album titled Return of the Boom Bip, which will be “one of the illest albums of 2010.”

He also added that the record also has confirmed guest spots from Q-Tip, Grand Puba and Ice-T. Watch this space for more details as they come.

Thurston Moore readies two new LPs

Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore has revealed he is working on two new records to be released this year.

Writing on his blog, the guitarist revealed he is recording a new solo album as well as a trio album with Kim Gordon and Yoko Ono.

Although details remain quite vague at present, Moore’s solo record is tentatively scheduled for an Autumn release.

At The Gates release 3 disks DVD set

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates have released a 3 disk DVD set chronicling their history as a band.

The package, entitled The Flames of the End, contains a 40-page booklet, a 2 hour documentary, as well as two disks of live footage. While one disk captures the band’s re-union performance at Wacken festival in its entirety, the other takes footage from other performances old and new.

The Flames of the End is available in Europe now.

We The Kings line-up March shows

Florida based pop-rockers We The Kings will return to the UK next month for a string of support shows with You Me at Six.

The band recently completed work on their second full length album which is set for release on 8th March. The record, entitled Smile Kid, was produced by S*A*M and SLUGGO (Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship), as the band look to repeat the success of their debut, which hit # 1 on Billboard’s New Alternative Album sales chart.

Nas owes millions in taxes

Nas could potentially serve time in prison after failing to pay his taxes during 2006 and 2007.

The rapper, who has also been in and out of court regarding his divorce to R&B artist Kelis, is said to owe a substantial $2,584,206.31.

Meanwhile ex-wife Kelis has recently signed to Interscope as she plans her new record to be released this year.
