The Libertines re-unite!

Carl Barat and Pete Doherty reunited last night at Doherty’s An Evening With Pete Doherty gig.

The Libertines became one again and played 13 songs at the Hackney Empire. Doherty said, during the second half of the show, “You’ve been waiting for this moment. Ladies and gentlemen Mr Carlos Barat…only joking! What do you expect for 25 quid?” at which point Barat came out on stage.

Seeming friendly in between songs, they played What Katie Did, Time For Heroes, Albion and The Delaney amongst other material.

He has described the upcoming release as “experimental techno-pop” and will be called Dumb Luck. The record will feature appearances by Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley and Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst.

He explained that he knew Lewis through meeting her when recording with The Postal Service and she introduced him to Oberst.

He sent instrumentals to the contributors who then sent him back the lyrics and vocals, with Tamborello only penning the lyrics for the title track.
