The Crimea are putting up their second album Secrets Of The Witching Hour as a free download on May 13th.

The free release features Regina Spektor and production from Dave Allen of The Cure. A CD version will also go on sale on June 4th but the plan from the band is to forgo sales revenue in the hope that their popularity will increase on the back of the free download, then make their money back on tour. Their tour dates are:

The Explosion have split up, according to a blog on their myspace.

They didn’t offer any reasons for the split and simply thanked the fans for their support. The band often had trouble in the ranks and had recently left Virgin after a few years on the label.

They still hope to release Bury Me Standing on “some label or another” and are expected to do some farewell shows.

Courtney Love is set to auction off some of Kurt Cobain’s belongings.

The former Hole singer has said she plans to sell the Nirvana frontman’s things with auction house Christie’s. She likened her house to a mausoleum and went on to say:

“My daughter doesn’t need to inherit a giant hefty bag full of flannel fucking shirts… A sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to ‘Teen Spirit’ – that’s what my daughter gets. And the rest of it we’ll just fucking sell. “We’ll make a lot of money and give a bunch of it to charity.”

She also made comments about her new record, which will be called Nobody’s Daughter, claiming it was called that because she’s nobody’s daughter or widow, just someone’s mother. There is currently no release date for the album.

The Silicon Vultures EP is released today [April 30th] on Captains Of Industry.

Everyone’s favourite masked villain is seeing his last MF Doom release, MM…Food, re-released by Rhymesayers Entertainment.

That incarnation’s follow up to Operation: Doomsday originally came out in 2004 but went out of print and stayed that way for close to two years. In addition to the CD, a DVD will come with the album, documenting Doom’s release party tour – The MM…Food Drive Tour. It will feature live performances and behind the scenes footage, giving you a rare insight into the metal fingered villain’s life.

The date of release is set for June, so get those pennies saved!

Crass have announced they will perform their classic album The Feeding Of The 5000.

Co-founder Steve Ignorant said that he will be performing that album with “selected special gusts” and has promised to deliver a show of “love, music, film, performance and anger”.

The special event will take place on November 24th and 25th at Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek has been announced as the producer for the upcoming Foals album.

Sitek is reported to be notoriously picky about who he works with but apparently hand-picked the Oxfordshire band himself.

Sitek, who has worked on production duties for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, will take the band into his Brooklyn studio this June and July to work on the record.

Dinosaur Jr have released their new single and it is available in limited numbers on 7″ vinyl.

Been There All The Time was written by J. Mascis and will feature the Lou Barlow penned Back To Your Heart on the B-Side, both taken from their upcoming album Beyond.
