Wild Style 25th Anniversary

Wild Style is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary.

The cult film, which chronicled the hip hop movement in the late 70s and early 80s in the Bronx and influenced a whole new generation of musicians such as Madonna and Blondie, is being released once more.

The soundtrack, regarded as one of the best ever, is also being released. With the soundtrack having been sampled by the likes of De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Beck, Cypress Hill, DJ Shadow, Nas and Public Enemy, it’s clear to see how far the influence has stretched.

Aesop Rock video!

Aesop Rock‘s video to his new single None Shall Pass is online.

However, it isn’t going to be easy for you. Click the link at the bottom of the page and put in the code [hint: look at the album title you dimwit] and then answer some questions which will give you free tunes and lyrics.

Once you’ve gotten those, you’ll get the video, which includes the Jeremy Fish characters used in the inlay of the new album.

It’s dope. Dope on a stick. A hip hop stick. You get the idea.

If you’ve not read Abjekt’s interview with him already, get on it.

Kanye West is a prick

The title says it all really.

The rapper, who recently did a decent thing and spoke out against homophobia in rap music has ruined everything by making sure everyone knows HE ISN’T GAY. OK. UNDERSTOOD. HOW DARE YOU THINK HE’S GAY. Just so you’re clear, he went on to say:

“And I’m still homophobic myself to certain extent… You know, I wouldn’t go to a gay parade and feel comfortable. I wouldn’t ever to a gay club or something and just be chillin’ and grab a drink…It’s being in the entertainment world, I meet so many different gay people who are actually nice people.”

They’re nice? Wow, and here’s everyone thinking all gay people are rapists and murderers. Who’d have thought?

Kanye, you’re a dope. Shut up, stop making music and hide under a rock please. Thanks.
