Bobby Brown – Heart attack or not?

Rumours were spinning around the internet that Bobby Brown suffered a heart attack.

However, Brown has said these rumours aren’t true, adding:

“I did go to the hospital – to just get a check-up, get everything tested out so that I could go on this tour, and everything is fine. I don’t know where the heart attack thing came from. I got my heart and everything checked out earlier this morning, and I’m just fine.”

We know none of you really care about this, but Abjekt just wanted an excuse to put this video up, check out that jacket! Amazing.

30 years of Greensleeves Records

Greensleeves Records are proud to announce their 30th anniversary working with some of the best names in dancehall and reggae, and are celebrating this with the release of a compilation of their finest musicians.

From Dubplate To Download is a celebration of Greensleeves Records phenomenal success and influence in reggae music. It’s the ultimate collection of the best reggae and dancehall songs to have graced the label.

Greensleeves
started out as a small humble record shop in West London. Some 30 years later it is regarded as one of the most important independent reggae labels in the world.

The key to the label’s success lies in its continued quest to remain cutting edge in the selection of music released on the label. This was evident right from the beginning with the release of Dr Alimantado’s iconic “Born For A Purpose” in 1977 – which some three decades after its release remains a highly requested title. Fast forward 30 years later and the label is still relevant to a new, young generation who like their parents before them listening to Barrington Levy, Eek A Mouse and the like are now tuning into the dancehall deejays of the new millennium i.e. Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal and Macka Diamond.

From Dubplate To Download is a 2 x CD compilation – one track per year has been selected hence 30 tracks marking every year of the label’s history (1997-2007). From Reggae Regular’s sublime “Where Is Jah” to Tony Matterhorn’s hype driven “Dutty Wine” Included in the selection are 5 songs that crossed into the mainstream UK Top 20 charts and became instant hits: Tippa Irie – Hello Darling, Shaggy – Oh Carolina, Mr Vegas – Heads High, Beenie Man – Who Am I and Wayne Wonder’s – No Letting Go. The CD also includes a link to an additional free download of “Hoola Hoop” by Macka Diamond.

Dubplate to Download is packaged in a multi fold digi pack which contains a 30 page booklet with the history of the label, exclusive images and interviews with the founders alongside quotes and anecdotes from artists associated with the label plus a link to a competition for a holiday for two in Jamaica.

Featured artists include Dr Alimantado, Wailing Souls, Beenie Man, Shabba Ranks, Garnett Silk, Bounty Killer, Yellowman, Sizzla, Ward 21 and a whole heap more.

To celebrate our friends at Greensleeves 30th anniversary, we are giving away some fantastic prizes over on the competitions page. Just answer the question and you could win yourselves some amazing prizes including cd’s, tshirts and stickers.
