We regret to inform you that former DEVO drummer Alan Myers (2nd in line of this photo) has passed away after a battle with cancer today. His jazz drumming skills graced their recordings and live shows for a decade between 1976 and 1986 when the band were at their peak, enjoying chart success with ‘Whip It’ and the legendary albums: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!, Duty Now for the Future, Freedom of Choice.

Dischord Records have uploaded a live show from Nottingham’s Rock City recorded back on the 23rd October back in 2002.

Following a sterling album release last year with ‘Late Love’, Norwegian rockers Wolves Like Us have returned with a new video this week for Get Gone.

They are releasing a 10″ on Prosthetic Records on June 24th that also comes packed with a cover version of Quicksand’s “Too Official” on the b-side as a precursor to their new album. Look out or this on your travels.

Palace designer and longtime London ripper Will Bankhead has come good with this new mixtape today for i-D.

The Palace lads have taken over the second room at Deviation’s night in East London’s XOYO venue on Friday night, have a taster of what dancefloor hits are on Bankhead’s decks right now.

Those filthy punks Metz (who are currently out on the road with Mudhoney) are returning to the UK in November for a full UK tour as announced today. If you have not heard their mind blowing self-titled debut album on Sub Pop yet, then search it out. It screeches raw energy and froths at the jugular.

The Meat Puppets are in the UK right now and played Brighton on Monday night at ‘The Haunt’ to a packed house. Watch video footage of them playing ‘Plateau’ and ‘Lake of Fire’, both famously covered by Nirvana all those many years ago at their unplugged session.

The band have a new album out called ‘Rat Farm’ capturing the band at their very best. Go search it out.

Hevy Fest will not be taking place at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park this summer. Read this new statement issued today:

“Hevy was set to move venue this year and we found the perfect site! It gave us much more room, a more central location, more generous operating hours and it allowed us to drop the dreaded no re-entry rule. It was perfect! We were all lined up to announce our now home, when a well-hidden licensing condition was discovered that would need to be overruled for the site to host Hevy.

Unfortunately the appeal process would take 2 months and we didn’t want to risk a last-minute cancellation if things went sour. So, rather than pursue an alternative and keep you guys hanging even longer, we’ve decided to shelve the camping set-up until 2014 – and instead put on a load of events with the bands already booked, including a new breed of Hevy Fest at Brixton Academy.

Current ticket holders will be offered a refund.

We are currently working on more events to be announced as soon as possible. Hevy would like to thank all the bands, agents and venues for their help in making these shows possible.”
