Lil Wayne is being taken to court.

The rapper, who just released his latest album Tha Carter III, is being sued for releasing “an altered version” of the Rolling Stones song Play With Fire.

The company suing Weezy and his record company, have claimed copyright infringement and that the use of “explicit, sexist and offensive language” could lead the public to believe that The Rolling Stones approved of the rapper’s version.

Metallica have explained the meaning of their new album title.

Death Magnetic, which is out on September 22nd, is a tribute to dead rock and roll stars. James Hetfield said:

“It started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like [Alice In Chains frontman] Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically – rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there. Thinking about death…just like a magnet, some people are drawn towards it, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away.”

James Iha and D’Arcy Wretzky-Brown are suing Virgin Records.

The former members of Smashing Pumpkins have filed the lawsuit saying the label made a deal with Billy Corgan regarding the group’s music without consulting them. The pair are seeking damages from electronic downloads. Watch this space. Meanwhile, Corgan is playing with a new line-up this year.

Les Savy Fav and Shellac have been confirmed to play ATP’s Halloween event Release The Bats.

The gig is taking place on October 31st at the Forum in London with Lightning Bolt, Wooden Shjips, Om and Pissed Jeans also on the bill. Fans who attend are being urged to sport some “spooky” costumes.

The Stupids reformed for a comeback show at the Portland Arms in Cambridge this weekend in front of 100 people organised by Boss Tuneage Records.

The night featured various Boss T bands including a set by TV Smith before Tommy Stupid proved he can still play fast hardcore throughout a bunch of classics from Peruvian Vacation, Violent Nun and Retard Picnic whilst Ed Shred took care of vocal duties.

Apparently they had so much fun that more shows are being planned, watch ‘Elephant Man‘, the first track from this show here.

Death Cab For Cutie have announced that they are going back into the studio to work on new material with an EP to hopefully be released near the end of the year.

Nick Harmer, bass player for Death Cab says, “There were four songs that we recorded during the Narrow Stairs sessions that didn’t quite fit into the final running order. We were really happy with them though so we decided to go back into the studio.”

He also added that he does “think an EP is a cool idea; it’s something we’ve done in the past so why not? I think it would be a really cool supplemental piece to Narrow Stairs and a snapshot of the musical headspace we were in during that period in the band. The songs will definitely see the light of day ahead of a new album though and, hopefully, before the end of the year“.
