Download: new Avey Tare

Animal Collective’s Avey Tare will be releasing the crocodile inspired album Down There on October 25th through Paw Tracks. But for a little taster of what to expect from an album that was recorded in an abandoned church in a swamp you can download the lead single ‘Lucky 1‘ for free below.

It’s squishy, squashy, sloshy, swishy, swampy and pretty much exactly like what you’d expect great music to sound like if it was recorded in an abandoned church in a swamp by someone fascinated by crocodiles.

Tune of the Day: Deerhunter – Helicopter

Deerhunter are back with a 3rd album which simply melts in your ears. As Sleekly Lion points out in this week’s Buzz Chart review, Helicopter is built around the simplest of chord progressions, but such care has been put into its construction that it needs little else. As Cox’s voice melts into the song’s chorus he strikes upon a melody that no level of pedalboard wankery could match, singing, “Oh these drugs played on me in terrible ways, they don’t play like they used to play”.

One to end the week on, read the full review here.

Watch: Tame Impala Lucidity video

Australian stoners Tame Impala have launched a new video to the web today for their song Lucidity.

Weather balloons were launched from the country town of Mildura outside of Melbourne that were destined for space whilst the band jammed on the desert floor below amongst tumbleweeds. This will definitely be easier to follow if you are blitzed.

Daft Punk produce new N.E.R.D. track

Holy production combo Batman! In an unusual change of events for the french house duo, Daft Punk have been making headline after headline in recent months as we get closer to the release of the Tron Soundtrack. Further unconfirmed leaks aside, it has been confirmed that Daft Punk have produced the new N.E.R.D. track ‘Hypnotize You‘.

The track appears of ‘Nothing‘, the latest album from Pharrell Williams’ (seen doing a street plant back in the day on the right) band and can be seen being performed live on the Late Show with David Letterman below.

It’s a slow funk jam that’s a departure from the dystopian disco sound of Tron and Human After All and a return to the slower, groovier, in-front-of-the-fireplace style sleaze-cheese of Something About Us. Listen to it below.
