Last year’s Vans Shop Riot comp went off in Manchester and this year we head to Leeds at The Works to see skate shops from across the UK throw their best riders into the fray for chance to get to the finals in Switzerland.
The event kicks off on July 18th and it’s free entry so get down and don’t be surprised if you get caught up somewhere in the torrent of brilliant garbage and inspirational heckling from Marc Churchill’s megaphone.
The legendary DIY spot in Laupside, Aldershot will be the host for a mental skate jam on July 17th to raise funds to expand the spot and make the place even better to skate.
‘Come Join Me At Laupside‘ will have what all skateboarder’s need, a raging BBQ, booze, live bands and of course, some free stuff up for grabs.
So come one, come all to what’s sure to be a rad day out for an excellent cause too. Get to it.
Just a reminder for you Birmingham heads out there, the premiere of Gnargore’s ‘Wizard Council‘ is this Saturday on July 17th!
The premiere will be held in the Mixing Bowl Theatre in the Custard Factory in Birmingham. And if your thirst for gnar isn’t quenched by the mosher drop, wallride and tight jean fest that the video promises to be then be prepared for some frontside slashing on the Ideal mini-ramp during the messy after party.
It’s two quid on the door and they’ll be Fallen Footwear, A Third Foot and Witchcraft goods as raffle prizes so get your beers and attend what’s sure to be a sick night.

It’s that time of year to grab your rocks, socks and cocks and head down to SKEG plaza for X-Site’s Seaside Showdown. The event is on July 24th and they’ll be tons of goodies up for grabs in the under 15 comp, the over 16 comp and the sponsored and pro jams. Get down there and get down, all-day entry is a tenner and that includes the after party so get on it!
British rockers Dinosaur Pile-Up will be embarking on a tour of the UK this September.
The band’s hotly anticipated debut album, ‘Growing Pains‘, is set to be released in September and the release will be accompanied by a huge tour. The album’s lead single, ‘Birds And Planes‘, will be released on July 26th on digital download and limited 7″ vinyl formats.

The new Black Mountain video for ‘Old Fangs‘, a cut off their upcoming third album ‘Wilderness Heart‘ was posted online this week.
The album will be released through Jagjaguwar on the 13th September in the middle of the band’s UK Tour. The band will be playing T In The Park and Latitiude Festival as well as the following dates in September and one London date in October…

Hot of the heels of his magnum opus ‘Cosmogramma‘, released earlier this year, Flying Lotus will be performing a live film score at the Tate Modern in London this Summer alongside two other live shows.
Fly Lo will be playing an earlier gig of his usual bubbling beats and soulful dance jams with his Brainfeeder posse at the Hearn Street Car Park on the 14th August. On the 16th August he will be performing the score to Harry Smith’s ‘Heaven And Earth Magic‘ at the Tate.
His London excursion concludes with his Infinity show at the ICA on the 18th August. Infinity will include Ravi Coltrane, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Rebekah Raff and many more musicians that played on Cosmogramma.
