It has become a trend for sports brands to flex their financial muscles around their full length video release launches lately so it was inevitable the Adidas press machine would be rivalling Nike’s addition of Guy Mariano and Nyjah Huston with the announcement of purchasing more of skateboarding’s prized assets, and it doesn’t come much bigger than Daewon Song.
Daewon was announced as a new addition to the Adidas skate shoe team last night following the premiere of their new video. He confirmed this on his instagram just now stating that “after 19 years I needed a change. That whole company (referring to DVS) is not the same people anymore.”
@crossfirezine MJ is in the video.

Rumours that Marc Johnson has also joined him have circulated on social media overnight, although he is still listed on the team page on the Lakai website this morning and is one record stating that tennis shoes are not for him. Word is that he is in the new video though, confirmed to us earlier this morning by Robert Brink on Twitter. Watch this space.
They said it would never happen, mainly because for the last three decades original Misfits bass player Jerry Only and notoriously uncompromising frontman, Glenn Danzig have been locked in a bitter dispute over ownership of the band, music and iconic logo etc.
But it now appears that for the first time in thirty-one years, original members Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle Von Frankenstein are reuniting for the Riot Festivals in Chicago and Denver in September this year.
Quite what has prompted this turn-around in events is not yet clear, apart from the obvious financial motivations. Whilst Doyle has been regularly turning up to perform Misfits songs over the last few years with Danzig, Jerry has been forging ahead with his own version of the band for many years now, recording four studio albums and touring the globe many times over whilst Danzig has continued with his solo career.
Whether there will be more shows to come is not yet known, but for now, the thought of getting the chance to see the original band is certainly enticing!

Name one film about skateboarding that has ever been respected at the time of its release by actual skateboarders? There are not many that spring to mind, but some go down as classics such as Thrashin’. Will this? If it has top cheese factor then maybe.

Southsea’s magical sea-front skatepark has been revisited in a new web documentary that delves into the park’s cherished history.
This park, that is still open today, was an epicenter for skateboarding back in the 80s and hosted some of the most legendary events in UK skate history, from Shut Up and Skate to demo’s from the Powell team, who were at their peak at the time.
Get the teas on for six minutes of reminiscing with Don Brider and more locals. The only downside is wanting more!

So, Gonz has decided to make his own Loveletters series on YouTube this week and gives Jeff Grosso a firm kick in the butt for being a difficult to please bugger. Ugly, awkward tricks are going down in this short flick with some good banter thrown in for good measure, no doubt.
Edit: Looks like Gonz took this one down overnight, sorry.
