Band of the Day: Horse Guards Parade

Once in a while an album drops into your stereo and on first listen hits a chord that makes you reminisce the good times. Yorkshire 5-piece Horse Guards Parade are the latest to take us back with their unique blend of mellow, indie rock that comes complete with charming song writing and intelligent lyrical content – in fact the more you listen to this debut, the more guiarist/vocalist James Waudby’s stories spark that imaginition you had forgotten existed due to the dull tones of the many artists that fill your i-pod these days.

With a sound that could be mentioned in the same breathe as Neil Young and Pavement (who they have played shows with at ATP) their Northern take on 90’s inspired indie rock should make a decent dent on the indie scene in 2011 so look out for a release on April 11th on Morten Industries and like their page on Facebook.

Next live show:

Saturday February 5th 2011 at Fruit in Hull playing an acoustic set as support for a spoken word show by the former international drug dealer Howard Marks.

Who is The Harmony’s new rider?

Last week The Harmony Skateboards teased their facebook followers with news of a new rider joining the team very soon, but who is it? We can tell you who it isn’t…..it’s not Sean Goff, Curtis McCann or Simon Evans. It’s also not Ben Raemers, Danny Brady or even that bald git Nic Powley.

What we can tell you though is that he has been interviewed on this very website and has attended CF events in the past so have a think of who it could be. Maybe he is from the US and a special guest, a European ripper or maybe he’s from the UK.

Click through to the Crossfire facebook page, like the page and post who you think it could be in the comments under this post. The winner who guesses correctly once The Harmony announce their new addition will be sent some free shit in the post.

Look out for a full debut album by Lindi Ortega in 2011 as she has produced a country-fried classic that will be in the ears of many by summertime that will be released on Last Gang Records. Press play on this and think of the sand between your toes.

Watch: NPNG Xmas video edit

I was waiting for a Christmas edit from either the NPNG crew or the Get Lesta crew and it seems as though NPNG are quicker out of the blocks this year.

No point in me rambling on about what’s in it as by now you should know these chaps from the Bournemouth area love the fun of life and that you are gonna get a few tricks and bundles of the latter. Actually this is also a good time for me to apologise to Lovenskate’s Ewen Bower whose name was missed out as a credit in the Xmas Jam video as Alan didn’t do his homework and forgot to ask me, so apologies mate and Merry Xmas to Bummer and all who wreck Kings Park daily!
