Bo Ningen & Comanechi confirm Japan benefit show

bo ningenIn light of the latest disaster in Japan, Bo Ningen, Comanechi and The Catcher Nine have confirmed to play a benefit show in London to raise money for the Red Cross curated by the guys over at God Don’t Like It.

The show will be held on April 10th at Hoxton Bar Kitchen in Old Street with tickets at £7.50 a pop. You can get tickets with no booking fee from here and all profits from the show will going to charity for food, medicine and support to Japan. Do your bit for the disaster and if you have not heard or seen Bo Ningen live yet then you are in for a treat. Have a taster of their thrash goodness here.

Portobello Recollection art project in Ladbroke Grove

portobellorecollectionIf you visit Bay 66 Skatepark or are shopping in Ladbroke Grove, W10 in the near future make sure you check out the Portobello Recollection public art project on Portobello Rd. The idea was put together by Natasha Mason and Teresa Crawley, two art students at St Martins College in London and features hundreds of albums and 12″s from over the past 100 years to celebrate the eclectic music that has been made and played in the area that includes Calypso, Soca, House, Reggae, Pop, Punk, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Break beat, and Dub.

Enjoy walking past this project slowly and checking out records you may well have in your collection and others you may have always wanted, you can find this opposite the Spanish school on the North end of Portobello Rd.

Kingston Lurkers’ Blueslims promo

The Kingston Upon Thames skate scene has always been strong. Looking back to the 80’s and early 90’s you will find the unforgettable Davross days, ollieing over ‘Smellblast’ the Kingston super tramp who sat under Kingston railway bridge on the way to the sessions at Tim Spear’s mini ramp. The Wednesday night mini ramp sessions at Chessington Youth Club, the New Malden skatepark vert/mini ramp heads and Ollies Skateboard shop in Surbiton- these memories were all part of a very active skate scene in Surrey and long may it continue.

The naughties rightly has a new scene and nothing much has changed as others are now keeping it alive and kicking down there. The Kingston Lurkers are the latest crew to start filming their local habitat and today a trailer was released for their forthcoming scene video. Burial, Four Tet and Thom Yorke EP sold out

thom yorkeA collaboration between Burial, Four Tet and Thom Yorke was premiered on Rinse FM last night.

The double A-side single was released via Four Tet man Kieran Hebden’s Text Records yesterday featuring tracks, ‘Ego’ and ‘Mirror’, but now sold out the twelve-inch sold out from Bleep.com on the first day.

If you are crazed like our very own Stanley to own a copy of this we’re sure they will repress it due to demand. It’s not as if any other records sell out these days so keep the faith.

Nate Dogg RIP

nate dogg ripLong Beach rapper Nate Dogg passed away last night at the age of 41. Nathaniel Hale made his mark as a rapper on the West Coast scene amongst other stars such as Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Warren G and Dr Dre who recruited him to appear on his debut album, ‘The Chronic’.

Nat Dogg signed to Death Row Records in 1993 and then went on to work for Elektra Records after falling out with the Death Row crew. In 2007 he suffered a stroke and a year later, another that worsened his condition. As yet his cause of death is unknown.

RIP Nate Dogg.
