Foreign fun

Crossfire caught whiff of a new Street park that got built in the French Jura region, Morteau to be more precise, and apparently it’s so good that people are coming from up to 200km away to ride it!

The boys at Syndrom/Skatanova took just under a year to complete the park, from the first shovel of earth to the last tree planted, and this is the sort of fun you can have there.

La Rue Vers l’Image

We mentioned this French filming comp a while ago, and now the footage is in! Loosely based around the idea of King of the road and Day in the city, La rue vers l’image has gathered short video montages from 11 teams, including skate tricks by Cliché, Metropolitan and Landscape riders.

Be warned! – The website takes longer than a spit roast to cook, so either be patient or check with Sugar Magazine who are backing this project and should release the whole thing on DVD soon…

Unabomber DVD incoming

Harry and the team just back from a week long Belgium trip and mentioned that it was amazing! – “Loads of shit got done and all the lads made it back alive and in 1 piece, massive thanks to Geoff Van Hoven”.

New Unabomber Doss bags are in and they are way better than the last ones if you are old enough to remember them? Also the DVD is well underway now and hopefully should be out some time in November providing we aren’t all underwater by then……expect to see a nice little article in Sidewalk in the coming months for coverage of that particular trip. Until then, Unabomber will treat them mean to keep them keen.

Nikita Clothing

Nikita Clothing proudly presents its brand spanking new website. Profiles of team riders including that of our infamous UK skateboarderess, Lucy Adams, feature alongside a “Whazzup” section – which almost sounds like a programme from my Andy Peters days – but is actually a page documenting the success of their girls around the world.

This year sees two different clothing lines on offer. Firstly Nikita presents its first Outerwear specific collection, this I understand to be aimed mainly at snowboarders with a range of Icelandic temperature tested jackets and pants. The other, the Streetwear line offers an enormous variety in it’s ‘largest to date’ collection of clothing: anything from skate wear – hoodies, beanies and trousers etc to going out clothing – dresses and underwear, all of which can be viewed in the gallery which has a refreshingly high quality of imagery to give you a very good idea of the garbs on offer.

The website is very user friendly has a pleasing layout to the eye and is well worth checking out. The clothing on offer has a good range of styles, something to suit everyone, and on all accounts is very durable. In addition, there is a completely new section on how or where to find your nearest stockist of Nikita – simply click on the ‘Where’ section.

Sweden overturns file sharing conviction

A Swedish man who was accused sharing movie files illegally has had his conviction overturned. The man was accused of illegally sharing “Hip Hip Hora“, a Swedish film, via P2P, and had been found guilty of copyright violation, being fined over £1,000.

However, the Court Of Appeal said there wasn’t enough evidence for conviction and overruled the decision. The evidence used against him was the link of the film to an IP address but that wasn’t enough the appeal court ruled. This presents a problem for anti-file sharing authorities as the law in Sweden prevents the police from searching a home and/or PC to get evidence.
