Ian MacKaye isn’t dead!

Ian MacKaye isn’t dead.

The Fugazi and Minor Threat man was the victim of an internet rumour saying he’d been killed by a hit-and-run and his Wikipedia entry was changed multiple times as part of the elaborate hoax. However, MacKaye came out and said:

“I am happy to report that I am not dead.”

That clears that up then.

The singer recently said in an interview that as soon as his current tour is over, he will begin recording new material. He stated that it’s written and ready and went on to say that he’s “outside the mainstream, and the mainstream never let me in.”

Dillinger cancel tour again!

Dillinger Escape Plan have had to cancel their upcoming tour again.

The reason for this second cancellation is the breaking of Ben Weinman’s foot which occured during the filming of the band’s new video. The band said:

“He of course was ready to go out and kick ass with a cast on his foot, which we seriously considered for a second, but figured we’d wait til he could actually kick ass with both feet just in case he did further damage to his foot, which he certainly would have.”

The band’s new album Ire Works is due for a mid-November release and they plan to re-arrange the dates as soon as they can.

Hi-Tek & Kweli to make new album

Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek are set to join up again for a new record.

Producer Hi-Tek, who produced the majority of tracks on Kweli and Mos Def’s Black Star album, teamed up with the rapper as Reflection Eternal on Rawkus Records. In the years since their Train Of Thought album, the two have been releasing solo albums, but Hi-Tek recently said:

“We are definitely are doing [an album]…We both are trying to get back together on a really good note, as opposed to just doing it for the business.”
