The Man Who Souled The World premieres

Don’t miss your chance to check out the Accolade Award winning film The Man Who Souled The World when it releases in theatres across the US this Friday.

The movie tells the definitive story of Steve Rocco and the early 1990s skate scene, providing a no-holds-barred expose on one of the most progressive and influential eras in skate history. The theatrical release is proudly supported by Ally and World Industries.

Nothing yet on the UK premiere, but fingers crossed something will get sorted, as we all owe this guy a lot.

VANS – Classic Polo

VANS have started to take their apparel very seriously. You only have to walk in to the store in Carnaby Street these days to realise that there are fresh threads everywhere on sale. We decided to find out whether they are actually worth you picking up and got our hands on a new Classic Polo shirt to see what all the fuss was about.

The first thing you realise is that this shirt is not your average polo material. Most people at some point in their lifetime would have thrown on a polo but this material feels bespoke to the brand who have bought skate shoes for generations since 1966.

A blend of 96% cotton and 4% spandex feels soft to the skin and gives your body plenty of movement. The shirt is not overbranded, something i have noticed on all of the current wave of Vans Apparel. It comes with only a miniature classic slip on image and should be on your body.

Fully Flared, I’m There!

To further add to the internet hype around this video, (which I heard was all shot on 35mm by Steven Spielberg in space), Lakai are running a competition for one lucky person and a friend to win a fully paid for trip and be flown out to the world premiere on November 16th.

The “Fully Flared, I’m There” competition runs until October 11th so get your skates on and enter on the Lakai website.

Volcom Wild In The Parks

Volcom’s Wild In The Parks tour gets ready to land at Transition Extreme skatepark in Aberdeen, which is preparing itself for an onslaught of ridiculous skating on Saturday October 6th.

Prizes are being sorted out, skaters are organising travel plans, including Volcom team riders Kris Vile, Ben Raemers, Chris Ault and Rory Milanes. With that lineup, and seeing how those guys destroyed it at our Southbank Jam, I might book my ticket up to Scotland now.

The day will get underway around 2pm with a “15 and under” group and “16 and over” battling it for those prizes. And don’t forget the after party at Moshulu, free entry from 9.30pm and music by the one and only NATO and NEX. Git yeesells there…

Wu Tang get history making sample!

Wu Tang Clan have been given permission to sample a Beatles song.

The rap crew were originally going to cover While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Dhani Harrison, son of George. However, now the group have clearance to sample the song, which is a first for an official Beatles sample.

The band will be pushing back 8 Diagrams to December, “due to the magnitude of the sample and the History being made.”

In other Wu news, GZA will be performing Liquid Swords in its entirety at Koko on Sunday December 9th as part of the Don’t Look Back series.
