Mongrel will travel to Venezuela to make music with President Hugo Chavez.
The band, featuring members of Babyshambles, Arctic Monkeys and Reverend And The Makers said:
“The Mongrel thing is just going to roll and roll, we’ve got plans to go and do a second record out in Venezuela with Hugo Chavez. Their culture’s kind of exploded and Chavez has put a lot of his wealth into restoring the indigenous culture and stuff…We’re going to do a kind of Buena Vista Social Club style thing out there with some of their drummers, and hip hop people and horn sections and stuff. It should be fun man. Venezuela is like the new Jamaica, or Brazil, or Cuba, it’s kicking off”.
Cliché welcome Flo Mirtain to their ranks just in time for the worldwide release of Cliché’s latest full lengh DVD “Cle” which should be in stores in the next couple of weeks.
For a teaser go here. Expect a slightly different approach from the other vids, but the same tight skating from the likes of Puig, Fonseca, Brezinski and Brophy.

Starting out as a small skate brand making custom tees in small runs, Iron Fist have grown to become one of biggest brands to come out of South Africa.
With bright styles and a bit more thought going into their designs than your average clothing company they have worked to sit in the same sort of bracket as Volcom, producing high quality gear for the skate/surf market, so its not surprising to learn that the founders had a hand in that company in the early days too…
Opening up the parcel of clobber the kind Iron Fist people sent me out (I love this job) I ferreted around and pulled the handful of t-shirts out of the box. The first of the three has a full chest print of the Peace V’s hand outline with fuck off and die squeezed in the outline, which is a commendable sentiment to send to all soapdodging treehugging hippies…
The second has a tidy hotpant-sporting lady with disco wings and my personal favourite (and the one my missus hates the most) features a cheeky looking bird with one nip out in a jazzy pop art style.
All of the shirts feel top quality and unlike some other brands that feel like they’ve been churned out as fast as humanly possible to maximise profits, these feel like they’ll last beyond the first wash and are sure to brighten up the gloomy British winter that is lying in wait.
In short, they are definitely something to look out for and can be found in finer skateshops across the country. Check out the full line at www.Ironfist.tv and pester your local to order them in.
British horror flick Mum and Dad is possibly the most sadistic film I have had to endure watching. The story tells the tale of a polish airport cleaner Lena and her mental hell when she is kidnapped after a late night at work. She thinks she is playing it safe by accepting help from chirpy co-worker Birdie, but is unaware of the family her friend comes from. Lena is catapulted into a sadomasochistic household where torture seems to be the main source of entertainment and pleasure.
Within this perverse family is a couple who insists they be called ‘Mum and Dad‘ and their two “adopted” children, not to mention a skeleton in the closet. Lena has two options while imprisoned in this House of Horrors, become part of the family or fight for her freedom, which is probable going to cause her death.
This is writer/director Steven Sheil‘s first feature film and I’m not sure whether I want to see any more of his work after seeing this. I absolutely love horror flicks, so thinking this one is full of brutality and terror I had high hopes. Firstly, the film takes places in a house near to Heathrow’s runways; pastures way too close for my liking. Secondly, even though this flick may seem well made with creativity in the scenes (a house of torture chambers and prison like bedrooms with some rooms like those present in your grandparent’s house), there is too much revulsion that a viewer must endure; the scenes are gruesome, stomach-churning, shocking and the script is complete filth. Lastly, the narrative is one of disgust and uses this rather than shocking blood scenes to put its storyline across. I do not find sexual acts regarding freshly cut human flesh entertaining in the slightest.
There should be a ‘This Film Contains Scenes Which Some Viewers May Find Disturbing‘ sign at the start of this film so those watching are aware that they may be seeing the return of their last meal. I was left sick to the stomach after watching Mum and Dad. This is the least enjoyable film I have seen, ever!
