Deathwish ripper Jon Dickson features in this latest battle with a nollie flip backside lipslide down. There was only one winner here.
The guys from Network A dropped this trick from Taylor Jett and caused a debate this week after they named this a Triple Tre Flip but the internet has been debating its name since skateboarder Christopher McClure became that guy:
“Don’t wanna be that guy but wouldn’t a “triple tre” technically be 3 kick flips with a 1080 shuv. This is more like a 360 shuv triple kick flip?
Argue amongst yourselves whilst we prep some hippy griptape and watch this.
7SECONDS
Leave A Light On
Rise
Slapping a new 7SECONDS album on the stereo in the year 2014 is pretty amazing in itself. The fact that it’s really great is even better!
Around since the dawn of The Eighties, and at the forefront of North America’s Hardcore explosion, 7SECONDS have quite rightly earned their place in history. I first heard them in ’84, via the track ‘Out of Touch’ on a flexi disc, before graduating to their debut album The Crew. I was immediately taken in by the rapid-fire blasts, with songs about friendship, honesty and equality; there was an air of optimism and positivity to their message. 7SECONDS were soon stenciled on the back of my leather jacket. I’ve been tuning in ever since.
All these years later, the positivity is intact, and opening track, ‘Exceptional’, catapults out of the speakers. It’s winning pumped up chorus, “I don’t need your sorrow, don’t need your sympathy, I’ll get up tomorrow and fight the apathy”, pretty much sums up the attitude of this band; don’t sit around feeling lazy and miserable for yourself, get up and make something happen. I’m very much aligned with the can-do mentality. So yeah, of course I’m fuckin’ diggin’ what they say!
Musically, the band solidly deliver the goods. Steve, Troy and Bobby boldly hammer out the tunes, whilst those oh-so-familiar impassioned pipes of Kevin Seconds find the veteran frontman still singing his heart out, slamming hate-mongers and “so-called patriots” go!
A few select tracks grabbed me instantly, ‘I Have Faith in You’, ‘My Aim is You’, ‘Rage Quit’, ‘Someday, Someway’, ‘Upgrade Everything’, but seriously, having spun this album back to back half a dozen times, I’m really into all 14 songs. And any band that’s been going for so long deserves to write a song about themselves, in this case the self-depreciating ’30 Years (And Still Going Wrong)’.
A top album guys, keep rolling along!

The UK had a bunch of familiar faces that graced the pages of R.A.D Magazine on a monthly basis back in the late 80s, but one that always stood out for me personally was Don Brider. I mean, his mug is unforgettable for one, and that Tony Hawk hair faze stuff really did the rounds, but most importantly, Don’s skating did all the talking.
In August 1977, Brider’s Nan gave him his first skateboard that “looked like a piece of wood with some nails in it”. From then onwards it was plain sailing. Whether it was Portsmouth’s red brick banks, or Farnborough’s vert ramp, to the coping at Meanwhile 2, Brider ripped everything in style and pushed street skating to all sorts of levels that we could only sit back and admire.
Today, he still makes skate stickers, including our very own. He hates sports brands and chain stores, and abuses people on Facebook like no other. So raise a glass to Don today who celebrates 50 golden years on earth. May there be another 50 in the tank for those they call The Donz!
Happy Birthday!

London’s skate scene are finally going to enjoy an indoor skatepark facility courtesy of Vans who have launched websites today for the official announcement of their new House of Vans set up in Waterloo.
We were invited to visit the site two weeks ago to meet the team who were laying fresh concrete in the street area and bowl designed by Marc Churchill. The bowl fills an entire tunnel and has many quirky obstacles and sits alongside another longer tunnel that boasts concrete street obstacles and a mini ramp.
The space itself is incredible. With 30,000 sq ft to play with over five tunnels, the House of Vans London will showcase an art gallery, a VansLab artist incubator space, cinema, live music venue, premium café and bars, gifting suite and skate park.
A facebook page and website launched today that you should follow. In the meantime arrange your diary as this venue will open in the Old Vic Tunnels, Station Approach Road, SE1 8S behind Waterloo station in London on August 9th.
We will bring you more details soon.
