Thrasher presents – Skate and Destroy

(High Speed Publishing)

Thrasher doesn’t need to prove itself to anyone. Recognised everywhere as the skateboarder’s bible, this 25 year old magazine was the answer to a culture striving to survive and a ‘fuck off’ to anyone who tried to cash-in, label or disrespect the sidewalk surfing community.

The Skate and Destroy book is a testimony to all the blood, sweat and tears that went into providing skateboarding with a beacon of hope. Did you know that when Thrasher coined the phrase ‘Skate and destroy’ into their mag, a concerned mother took it into her hands to start a counter publication titled ‘Skate and Create’? Didn’t think so. That’s why this tome of provocative images and gritty text is a must-have. With words from all those involved in the magazine intimately (Fausto Vitello R.I.P/, Jake Phelps, Kevin Thatcher…),

Skate and Destroy also provides introductory profiles and stories about the key players and by the key players of skateboarding- Mark Gonzales, Duane Peters, Tony Hawk, Tommy Guerrero, Geoff Rowley… All there. Several pages are dedicated to each one of the 25 years Thrasher has been leading the pack. An extensive and exclusive number of magazine spreads, adverts, articles and photos that taught many a generation what our culture entailed.

I cannot express how amazing Skate and Destroy is. Go buy it now!!!

Building Better Bombs

Building Better Bombs are the hardcore band of Doomtree member and Rhymesayers’ rapper POS and this is your chance to slap your ear drums with some noise courtesy of the Minnesotan band.

Stef [POS] and his friend Isaac started off by playing hardcore with a drum machine until Isaac went overseas, but since his return, and with the help of bassist Ryan Olson and Drew Christopherson on drums, Building Better Bombs are back and they’re creating carnage.

The group are ready to unleash their debut full length onto the world, a scorching 28 minute, 13 song screamfest onto the world and this track, Lookout, [this version is taken from POS’ Meat Tape], is just an example of the fast paced sonic avalanche you can expect when the record drops. You like it loud? You want it to fuck your hearing up? Well Santa just came early kids because this is exactly what you’re after.

Head on over to their myspace page at www.myspace.com/buildingbetterbombs for more tracks off the album and just as much rowdy behaviour.

Sharkey and C Rayz Walz have collaborated on a new album – Monster Maker and it is due to drop in early 2007. Producer Sharkey commented on the album, saying it’s about the fact that everyone has that point where they just break down and let loose:

“Everyone has those moments where they feel like they can cross the line, everyone has that seed in them where they’re capable of doing something monster shit.”

Rapper C Rayz Walz has said that Sharkey is the best producer he’s ever worked with and that they’ve “made a monster and now he’s here to bite everybody’s fuckin’ head off.”

Tom Delonge hates pop!

Former Blink 182 frontman and current singer for Angels & Airwaves, Tom Delonge, has blasted his former band with a video on youtube. There were a few rumours floating around as to why they had gone on “indefinitely hiatus” last year, but Tom has straightened it all out by saying:

“I do not want to be in a bullshit pop band with some bullshit pop songs while you drive your fucking bullshit car and sing along to it like you’re some 14 year-old girl.”

No more songs about bumsex with dogs then.

Check out what the other two Blink boys are up to by going over to the Buzz Chart and checking out their new band +44.
