Es secret spot search
Judging by Skateboarding’s global media onslaught, it comes as no surprise to see new hot-spot destinations pop up every other month. Well, Es are giving you the opportunity to put your spot on the map!
Send in a photo of your best bit of skate terrain and the Es team might pick it out of a hat to come and film for the upcoming Yes video, and have one of their riders shoot an ad. For more details on how to Take Es to your spot, click here. Submissions run until 30th April 2007.
411VM Versus – Round 2
Even if the purists lament about skateboarding for fun, and nothing but fun, everyone knows that a little head to head competition can help throw some spice into the mix.
411VM coined this concept quite neatly when they ran a Versus battle throughout 2006, pitching two skaters in an elimination match up of best trick burnout and leaving the public to vote for their favourite. Last year’s winner was Chris Haslam who beat his final opponent Greg Lutzka with a ridiculous double flip foot plant up and over the Barcelona bump to bar.
Pick your skaters here to make the top 16 cut and get the ball rolling for another 411Vs battle.
Welsh and Pepper Unite
Two of the smoothest skaters out of Maine, Rob Welsh and Joey Pepper, have just found a new home over at Expedition One. We told you the Kayo Corp was making power moves in the 07 and we weren’t lying.
Cataclysmic Abyss!!!
Watch all the spills, thrills and chills of the Foundation team as they defy gravity with their new soon-to-be-released DVD, Cataclysmic Abyss!
Antiz Z-Movie imminent!
If we keep plugging the blue collar establishment that is Antiz Skateboards, it’s because they are one of the most underrated group of riders out there.
Expect to be blown away by their second video, Z-Movie, free and available through Crossfire at the end of January.
5th District footy fest
Switzerland might be small, expensive and neutral to World affairs, but the skate scene there is strong as an ox.
The boys over at 5th District want you all to know what’s up in the Alps with plenty of sick footage in their super fast video section, including Stefan Bircher‘s lost tapes and Severin Von Ow (ph. Andi Speck) and Jah Hofer at Winterthur amongst other things.
You might remember a mental ramp contest that went down last year and literally took the roof off. That contest was King of the Ramp, and Juergen Horwarth won.
Well, now all you transition lovers (and amateurs) can fasten your seat belts because the comp’s video is now free for download. 22minutes of mad carnage featuring Jürgen Horwarth, Roman Hackl, Roman Astleitner, Oliver Gordon, Ralf Edlinger, Sascha Biehaule, Stefan Atzl, David Martelleur, Manuel Knoflach, Martin Jurásek, Kamil Poč, Ferit Batir, Andreas Fugger, Benjamin & Adrian Buchwald and the amazing Batzenhäusl.

Ted deGros turns pro, yo!
Possibly the most cringe worthy sub-title we’ve ever run in the skate news (Sorry Ted), but it’s pretty simple and long overdue in my honest opinion. Canadian Ted joins the professional ranks of the newly re-furbished Santa Cruz Skate team.
On a side note, here is the brand new trailer for V-Day: a celebration of Santa Cruz re-united Veteran’s league – Tom Knox, Eric Dressen (oof! What a wallride!!) and Jason Jessee. Get schooled soon.
Bastien off Etnies?
Burnt out on the industry and resting on some herbal laurels, euro-powerhouse Bastien Salabanzi (ph. Rob Brink) has left yet another major sponsor- Etnies Shoes.
It would seem like the young Congolese Frenchman seems more inspired by his guitar, but you can bet that he’ll be back at some point with only extra feathers in his cap.
