Manny Mania hit London this weekend as the finals knocked out some of the best technical skateboarding from the UK’s finest in Bethnal Green.
Nike rider Mikey Wright came away with the main prize for consistent manual wizardry and technical prowess. He was closely followed by Chris ‘Avi’ Atherton who even had the cheek to pull out a tape measure on one of his many awe inspiring lines! DuFFs rider Adam Howe came third and smashed out a huge bag of tricks on the day and Welsh Tommy once again turned up and laid down some seriously impressive skating.
Overall this was a great day out hosted by Red Bull, look out for video edits soon. Look out for all of these riders at the Halloween Massacre as they have all been invited to skate the mini ramp jam.
Brighton’s Stevie Thompson has fresh street footage and tranny skills shot at Mudshoot and Stockwell on YouTube this week. Look out for Stevie at the Halloween Massacre as he is one of many invited riders who will be ripping the 32ft mini ramp in the railway arches that used to be Ewer Street Skatepark back in the early 90’s.
One of America’s biggest daily newspapers The New York Times have documented an article this month about the sad death of Vans rider Van Wastell in Germany last month.
The article quotes Crossfire’s Ralph Lloyd Davis and also quotes Klaus Schubert, a spokesman for the Berlin police who said ‘It must have been a window of the stairway area in the sixth floor from where he fell or jumped down.’ Schubert added: “The most important question, whether it was an accident or a suicide, I cannot answer at this moment.“
