Us older skaters who congregated traditionally on Wednesday nights for sessions down at Southbank in the late 1980s will always cherish the history of what the Undercroft has banked over the years, but what about today’s generation? If you have attended Crossfire events over the years you would probably recognise 15 year old Reuben Russo who also skates Southbank regularly. This week LLSB discuss his views on why relocation of the Undercroft is not first choice for the current skateboarders of London’s most prestigious skate spot in a new video highlighting the questions that they believe the SBC should be asking.

Right now the Southbank Centre are moving forwards with their plans to design the new Hungerford Bridge space regardless of the campaign to stop the relocation. Planning permission is currently being saught to develop the new skate site and the upgraded original building.

The last consultation meeting (filmed below) was hosted by Iain Borden (Professor of Architecture and Urban Culture at the Bartlett School of Architecture) and Rich Holland (CIDE Skateshop/Side Effects of Urethane/Architectural designer at Floda31) and the new designer chosen to plan out the new space. That man is Danish skater Søren Nordal Enevoldsen from SNE Architects who has background in building skateable spaces in urban environments in Europe.
