Lakai Rick Howard XLK Fourstar boot

howard_boot_lakai1

Lakai’s latest must have boot comes from Rick Howard this winter as a limited edition Fourstar collab. This new take on the Howard XLK mid shoe takes on the shape of a classic desert boot, a cherished British army chukka worn by British forces in WW2.

These suede numbers are light and super comfortable straight out of the box, I’ve also found after wearing them for a month now that they hold their shape well. They are a fantastic choice for a chiller rather than to skate in but if you want to skate them, they do come with the XLK soles for flexibility and carry the standard Lakai herringbone tread for decent grip. Look out for these in your local skater owned shop as they worth every penny.

Supra Ellington

ELLINGTON_supra_skate_shoe

Supra’s new Ellington pro model has hit shops this month and looks like it could take some pounding. We have not skated in these yet but they come with a Suprafoam midsole that has been tickered with to provide you with better heel support for impact protection and a rubber outsole with sidewalls in the toe and ollie area amongst more.

These come in various colourways including a blinged up black, gold and white, straight up black and white, athletic red, dark shadow grey and this gum number you see here in black leather. Look out for them.

Fourstar Winter beanies

If the last 48 hours are anything to go by temperature wise, the deep freeze is definitely about to kick in here in the UK as the Autumn makes way for winter. Fourstar have a selection of beanies this season that should assist with dealing with the onslaught of freezing winds.

They sent us a couple of Traid Fold Beanies (above) to check out last week which did not disappoint. Made of Acrylic fibre with a mohair wool look, these beanies are thick like fisherman’s hats but not wool so they will not overheat your head whilst skating. They are also super soft to the touch and do the job perfectly. Alternatively their Slub Bar Fold Beanie has a simple but effective look and feel. Hunt them down in your local skater owned shop.

Fourstar Trujillo Plaid Woven

By November, the UK will be enjoying the annual freezing cold winds that we all know too well, so in the last 2 weeks we have been checking out various threads that will stand the test ahead that are worth investing in. Fourstar‘s winter collection has come up with some combative options to fight the freeze and Tony T’s woven shirt is a straight up winner.

Essentially it’s a super thick plaid shirt made of wool, which some of you may not find a pleasant ride. Wool can be a really itchy mother if you are not used to it but those in the know will understand that you adjust to the feel of it pretty quickly and will not be perturbed.

I found wearing a long sleeve or just a tee under this did the job. It’s a really warm number and loose enough for you to skate in. There are two pretty large breast pockets on the front and minimal branding. These also come in brown, put it on your list and have a look for yourself.

Fourstar: Carroll Signature Chinos

We are rocking a pair of Fourstar‘s black/blue colour this month and they are durable, comfy and fit to perfection. I took the slim fit option and they still have enough room in them to get a no comply in a run without ripping your privates and are soft to the touch with that type of cotton that has a brushed feel to them that they call stretch twill.

Mike Carrol’s signature chino comes with two welt pockets on the back, two off seam pockets up front (deep enough for your usual day to day stuff) and a zip instead of buttons which I personally prefer. These are also available in standard fit in camel brown and rosin green. Recommended.
