Plan B Skateboards have been tripping of late and have unleashed their new deck and wheel series this week. The Acid Trip series of pro decks and wheels will be making a psychedelic appearance in your local skate owned shop for Xmas so look out for the mesmorising powers.
Jereme Rogers pro model has also been released this week. Find his new rig over at www.planbskateboarding.com where Danny Way also eases tre flips over 70 ft gaps in their latest promo. Don’t miss it.
The images of these in the adverts were too good not to replicate on my feet so within a week we had them in the office and they did not let us down, these are seriously comfy shoes.
Mikey Taylor’s name has come up a lot in the last year and Etnies loyalty to his steez has been these beauties. I met Etnies UK team rider Mark Nicolson for a skate in the same week and he had a pair on and swore by them, so here’s his own thoughts on these most saught after pair of kicks.
“My first impressions were that the shoe really looks good. The Don Pendleton artwork on the tongue is a nice little touch, Classic Workshop style as always. The shoe has a very popular slim style and vulcanized sole which provides fantastic board feel but not so much that you hurt your feet if you jump down anything. Anyone who rides Etnies knows this is due to the System G2 heel insert that provides good shock absorbtion. The one piece toe cap initially looks like it might not survive too long but I was surprised to find it’s a lot harder wearing than I thought. In a nutshell, these are up there with the very popular shoes of the moment like the Emerica Reynolds 3’s and Leo Romero’s and I can’t wait to get some more!
Look out for a Death/Etnies collaboration shoe out very soon.
Let’s face it, people have long since stopped looking to Bam for anything other than dicking around, which is a shame really as, all hijinx aside, he’s not a bad skater, which often gets overlooked. Unfortunately, this 15 minute promo, featuring a selection of Element’s pro and am team skating it up at Bam HQ for Halloween, doesn’t really do a lot to detract from that notion.
You must know the drill by now: as with all “Bam-Brand” video exports, expect male nudity, motorised vehicles with 8foot polystyrene cock attachments, questionable half baked plans that probably seemed like a good idea at the time and many examples of cranking it up to 11 and living out the rock n roll lifestyle of all proskater megastars, Lamborghinis and all…
Personally, I have nothing against Bam; given the choice of getting paid a lot to act like a retard with your mates or doing it for nothing, then I’ll take the easy money every time and I don’t blame him for doing the same. In addition to this I have never seen him without a grin on his face and unlike many other skate stars out there, you never hear him complain about anything which goes a long way. The problem lies with the Bamfans this DVD is marketed to and who will predictably gobble it right up. It’s a 75-25 mix of tomfoolery to skating, with a few tricks dotted here and there to prove that Bam himself hasn’t completely resigned himself to partymode. Overall its pretty predictable and it’s going to go down a treat with the target audience, but from a skating point of view, I feel it would be better showcasing the skaters talent on the boards instead of their lifestyles off them, but, hey what do I know right?
Pester your local skateshop for it if the mood to see it grips you, alternatively it can be found online at Element’s website and should be checked out for the comedy gold that is Darrell Stanton trying to remain cool on the back of a bright yellow moped whilst whipping through the Pennsylvania undergrowth! There are definitely worse things to watch on a wet Sunday afternoon, watch it below but switch to High Quality for the best viewing.
A new movie featuring Riley Hawk, David Loy, and many more is in the works from Richie Valdez who says:
‘I have been out filming with friends for the homie’s video that has been in the works for the last…well while! This is a project I’ve been wanting to do for some time now. With companies being all gay and shit about themes, content, music, bad words, weed, all that crap…I have set out to just make a raw skate video like lots that come out without company’s backing them. Just videos made by dudes like me who love skateboarding and want to do something fun with friends and have a great time.‘
Skate Movie‘ is a raw skate video set for release in Spring 2009, watch the flames as this looks hot.
Cliché Skateboards are about to release a new video. ‘Clé, a live and unplugged’ video has fresh footage of the full team so expect good times and amazing skating as usual. The French Premiere in Lyon is planned for 5th December, look out for the UK one to drop shorty afterwards.
It has been a busy month for Death Skateboards since the winter kicked in.
Etnies rider Mark Nicolson just got back from Vegas and Dan Cates just got back from South America where he has been for a month shredding some epic spots. Expect a Cates interview on this site very soon.
Horsey’s new boards are doing good but he’s imediately got the pro curse and dislocated his toe. It has been numb for 8 days now – that will teach him to stick it up…actually, i won’t go there.
Zorlac’s knee got wrecked 5 weeks ago but is now on the mend. You should have seen the state of the wall, was far worse.
Boots is filming hard with Shakey Jakey for the Square One dvd. There are Death articles in both Sidewalk and Doco this month (doing tours in Turkey and Berlin), check ’em out.
Richie Jackson is being very quiet, the mind boggles as to what he is up to down under but we have money on 13th Floor Elevators and bongs being involved. Zarosh’s back yard pour is coming on strong, this fella will skate anything and if it’s not there you can expect him to build it himself.
Steak’s make up hasn’t come off since the Halloween Massacre as he was made up by the same bloke as Pheonix Nights…and finally…yep, look out for the Etnies/Death shoe collaboration about to drop soon!
Nick Trappasso seems to have fit into his new Converse shoes easily enough. The new team also includes Anthony Pappalardo, Ethan Fowler, Sammy Baca and Raymond Molinar. Brand new site is now up at www.converseskateboarding.com – have a look chuck.
This month UK Cliche rider John Tanner joins us for a guest Moves and Top 5’s. Sequence shot by the one and only Styley who now resides in Japan and is missed by all.
Tanner’s Top 5 useful items to have in your bag around London:
1) Rizla – Cash in when that stranger asks you by charging 50p per sheet. That’s 5 packets of Space Raiders bro!
2) Spare T-shirt – There’s nothing like a fresh T-shirt after a heated session. Be prepared for those occasions where a Pub/Club visit is mandatory after your homie puts it down.
3) Digital Camera – For capturing those Milfs and footballers wives amongst other things like that sick spot you go past on the bus or those killer number plates.
4) Deodorant – Keep it simple son! This one’s self-explanatory to you all i hope.
5) Spare Laces – Whether it’s for tying up security guards or simply fixing your Run DMC steez, don’t forget a lace has a million uses.
