New band for former Nirvana man

Chad Channing, who played drums on Nirvana’s debut Bleach, has announced details of his new band, Before Cars.

Channing said that he was planning to record more songs this spring with Jack Endino, who produced Bleach, and went on to say that following that, a full CD release would be put out.

He went onto say: “So just going to take things one day at a time and see what happens. I love making this music, and I’m really happy people love hearing it, too. It’s the music I’ve always wanted to play.”

Before Cars’ debut single Old Chair is available now and has a limited run of 500 copies.

Slint plan new material

Slint look set to release new matieral this year after getting together to play some concerts this summer.

The band, who released the critically acclaimed Spiderland in 1991, are trying to find some rehearsal space in Kentucky and if they are able to do this, the writing and recording process will be able to get underway.

That said, it is reported that new material will still take a little while to but fingers are crossed that anything that does come out of the rehearsal space will be released.

New Offspring album planned

Dexter Holland of The Offspring has posted an update online regarding the band’s new album.

The recording of the new album, which follows up 2003’s Splinter, has begun with 10 songs already having been recorded. Holland is currently recording the vocals though he ended by saying: “I don’t want to tell you guys too much because the record is still taking shape.”

The album is expected to be released in Sprint of this year.

Klub Kerrang – 17th March!

The second Klub Kerrang! at Koko went off with another bang and will return for more mayhem on Saturday 17th March.

With Ghost Of A Thousand kicking off the jams and The Blackout crushing all before them, February’s event was another frenzied party.

This month will see live music come from Kids In Glass Houses and Malpractise, which promises to be just a action-packed as the two previous nights. Click here to see the chaos that occurred in Night Raids.

As if the live music isn’t enough, the sonic barrage will continue as Kerrang! resident DJ Emma Johnston smashes down in the main room with DJ Zac Slack bringing his usual concoction of indie, hardcore, thrash, punk, death metal and all the classics to the Crossfire room with help from Talita Two-Shoes (Earache), found at the top of the venue. Prepare for a wild ride!

Alice Cooper & Motorhead team up

Alice Cooper, Motorhead and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts have teamed up for a UK team.

The hell raisers will beplaying around the country on a 10 date tour this November, which promises to be a relentless barrage of rock n roll. Alice Cooper said of the tour:

“Having toured with both Motörhead and Joan Jett before, and had a great time, we’re really looking forward to an all-out high energy show every night. They just don’t do tours like this anymore, but we’re going to do it. This is like a ‘No Mercy’ tour, we’re not showing any mercy to anyone.”

Dead Meadow reissues

Dead Meadow will see their material re-issued with the 2nd release coming on May 14th.

Howls From The Hills was first released in 2001 in a barn in Indiana and the reissue has been remastered from the original tapes and will include an enhanced video of a TV performance from 2001.

Following this will be the Peel Session the band recorded, including previously unreleased tracks, with official artwork and other bonus materials added to the release.

All this leads up to the brand new album from the band which is to be released in late summer of this year.

Kings Of Leon add extra dates

Kings Of Leon are returning to the UK for 3 July show.

The band, who have already lined up a full UK tour for next month, will play extra dates in London, Bournemouth and Cardiff to support their forthcoming album Because Of The Times.
