Gogol Bordello album details

Gypsy Punks Gogol Bordello have announced plans for a new album this year.

The record is called Super Taranta and is set to be released in July. The band will work with Victor Van Vugt on the production and Eugene Hutz of the group said:

“With Super Taranta! Gogol Bordello is going to conquer the world. Everything on the album is taken to the next level. It’s more direct, more abstract, more focused, with more dark humor. The dub parts are deeper; the fast parts are faster, its pure orgasmo hysteria.”

We at Crossfire can’t wait. Bring on the gypsy speed metal dubstep.

Reznor speaks out against pricing

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has recently blasted his record label Universal for making the price of the band’s new album Year Zero too high.

Posting on the band’s site, Reznor called the pricing “absurd” and has said he believes the label have ripped the band’s fans off. The example he used was the pricing in Australia where his album cost $34.99 next to Avril’s record which was priced at $21.99. He went on to say:

“As the climate grows more and more desperate for record labels, their answer to their mostly self-inflicted wounds seems to be to screw the consumer over even more. When I asked a label rep about this his response was: ‘It’s because we know you have a real core audience that will pay whatever it costs when you put something out – you know, true fans. It’s the pop stuff we have to discount to get people to buy.’ So… I guess as a reward for being a ‘true fan’ you get ripped off.”

He finished by saying the band would release a full-length remix album, with details coming soon.

New Yellowcard song

Yellowcard have posted a new track online from their forthcoming album.

The record will be called Paper Walls and is due for release in July, following up Lights And Sounds in 2006. The band were disappointed with the response to that album saying:

“Some people in the band felt the need to rebel from where we were and the kind of acts we were grouped with. A lot of people in our band thought we had a lot more to offer. And that’s how we’ve ended up where we are…I think maybe we were a little too jaded and a little too dark, and I think that the lack of hope and faith that we put on this record made us a little less sparkly and light to people.”

Sinn leaves Angels & Airwaves

Ryan Sinn, formerly of The Distillers, has been booted out of Tom DeLonge’s Angels & Airwaves.

Sinn delivered the message to the band’s fan club, saying that he didn’t want to go into details about the split as he didn’t want to be “desperate” by “throwing dirt”.

However he did go on to say that he felt the reasons used for kicking him out were “hypocritical to the point of abhorrent disgust”.
