Red Stripe have launched a search for the UK’s best new live act.
The Red Stripe Music Award will guarantee the winner a slot at two major festivals and will even get their own tour bus. To be in with a chance, bands need to register here.

The rapper teamed up with label mates Prolyphic and B Dolan along with Reanimator on the cuts, to record the SFR Pays Dues track. Described as a “mixtape style song”, it sees the rappers do their thing over Duck Season by the Beatnuts. It’s free, so go and check it out suckers!
Babyshambles’ Drew McConnell has unviled his new band.
Helsinki performed as the support act for Kid Harpoon at Dingwalls last week. The 5 piece played a number of songs including a jazz version of Babyshambles’ Delivery and a cover of Lagrimas De Oro by Manu Chao. Speaking before the performance, McConnell said:
“If any more of my friends get arrested, I’m leaving the country.”

The project which links up Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals and producer Boom Bip will showcase their album on their MySpace site for a week.

The Bronx have started work on 2 new records.
The band have begun working on the first of the two records which they describe as their “mariachi record”. After that is finished, they will go back into their own studio to record 11 punk tracks. They continued by saying:
“Both records should be released this summer worldwide. Double vinyl of both albums to follow. We are gonna try and do a studio blog or something. But we will prolly never get around to it, and blogs suck anyway.”
Nine Inch Nails have revealed the takings from their donation-suggested release.
The band put out the 36-track record as a DRM-free release and have netted an amazing $1,619.420 as a result of donations. Whilst NIN were completely open about the takings from this experiment, Radiohead have not revealed an amounts from their In Rainbows album.
