Roots Manuva has announced a new UK tour, set to take place in October.

The tour will feature material from his upcoming album Slime And Reason which is released on August 25th. The dates are:

Snoop remixes Cash

Snoop Dogg has remixed a Johnny Cash song.

The cover of I Walk The Line will appear on Johnny Cash Remixed, an album featuring songs licensed from Cash’s first label, Sun Records. The compilation has been produced by Cash’s song who said:

“[Johnny Cash] would have loved this remix record. While it stays true to the original recordings, this CD touches on undiscovered ground. This is what my father was about: staying true to tradition while creating groundbreaking new music.”

The album is due out in October.

Bloc Party release single and talk about album

Bloc Party have put their new single online.

Mercury can be heard on their MySpace and will be released independent of an album, as Flux was. The band are working on the album now with singer Kele Okereke saying:

“We’re in the middle of it. we’re still writing and working on it so it’s quite hard to have an overview really, we are making the record i always wanted us to make so we just can’t wait for it to be done.

New Strokes album in the works

The Strokes are planning to record a new album in 2009.

Albert Hammond Jr. of the band recently said that they hadn’t got anything set but they were “figuring something to do” in the next year. He went on to say:

“If we don’t make a Strokes record before that, people will think that’s the end of us.

Joker to release new single

Joker is set to release new single Holly Brook Park later this month.

The dubstep producer who released Gully Brook Lane earlier this year as well as remixing the likes of Simian Mobile Disco and Roni Size, will put his new single out on Bristol’s Kapsize. The 12″ will be a double A-side release with the track 80s backing Holly Brook Park.

Portishead plan fourth album

Portishead will work on a new album this year.

This is one of the reasons that the band are not playing any more live shows for the rest of the year. Adrian Utley confirmed that the band wanted to work on a new album so fans didn’t have a huge wait after Third. He went on to say:

“We got together the other night discussing stuff and getting a bit of a plan together. We’re all gonna be doing stuff. We’ve finished our touring for this album for this year because of things that we want to do.”

Lil’ Wayne is planning to launch his own brand of champagne later this year.

The rapper, who released Tha Carter III earlier this year which sold one million copies in its first week, will call his bubbly Halo and will be released in four types -Halo Brut, Halo Brut Vintage, Halo Rose and Halo Pinnacle. Abjekt is delirious over this news and he doesn’t even drink, praise indeed.
