Sepultura Part Ways With Drummer

Sepultura have parted company with their drummer Igor Cavalera. He cited musical incompatibility as the reason for his depature and said:

“A lot of reasons made me take this important decision in my life and I would like to share it with everybody. I believe my mission in Sepultura has come to an end. I am very proud of all we have done, but nowadays I feel that the band formation no longer lives up to my expectations. Since my last European tour in 2004, I have noticed that my ideas didn’t match with the others.”

New Slipknot DVD Incoming

Iowa’s masked heathens Slipknot are to release another DVD, to follow up Disasterpieces which came out in 2002. Whilst that centred around the concert, the new DVD is to be more of a fly on the wall style, with guitarist Mick Thomson saying it would have a more personal touch to it.

In other Knot news, the group are slowly coming together to start penning their next album. Thomson said that the core of writers would be getting together soon, and that he’d spoken to bassist Paul Gray a few times already about it.

Napalm Death News

Death Metal godfathers Napalm Death have begun recording a new full-length album entitled ‘Smear Campaign’. The follow-up to 2005’s ‘The Code Is Red…Long Live The Code’ is tentatively slated for release in the autumn of this year via Century Media. Vocalist Barney Greenway comments:

“After working our arses off on new stuff for the last couple of months, we kind of slipped into the studio when no one was looking. This thing is already sounding totally immense – even better than “Code…”, from where I’m standing. It’s fast and furious, as you’d expect, but we’re also throwing a few curveballs in, in true NAPALM DEATH tradition. Can’t wait for everyone to hear it. Take it easy peeps.”

Recording sessions are taking place at Foel Studios in Wales with an as yet undisclosed producer.
