36 Crazyfists announce UK support

36 Crazyfists will be touring the UK next year.

The band will hit the road with Bullet For My Valentine in late January/early February. You can check them out at the following gigs.

We Are Scientists lose drummer

We Are Scientists have lost their drummer.

Michael Tapper has quit the band though the split is amicable and the band released a statement saying he had left to “pursue other things”. There has been no permanent replacement yet, but the band will still kick off their UK tour next week.

Saul Williams follows Radiohead’s lead

Saul Williams is following Radiohead’s lead with his new release.

The rapper will release The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggytardust, a collaboration with Trent Reznor in a donation-suggested format. However, unlike Radiohead’s In Rainbows, Williams’ album will be available in very high quality formats.

Black Lips to star in film

The Black Lips are set to star in a film based on DIY bands.

The fictional work, which follows a New York band called The Renegades, looks at the underground music scene of the 1980s.

The Black Lips, who release their own single Veni Vidi Vici on December 3rd, will be directed in their roles by Roger Rawlings with The Renegades being “inspired” by Husker Du, Sonic Youth and The Replacements.

Stones biopic incoming?

Ronnie Wood has been approached to make a film out of his book.

The Stones’ bassist recently published Ronnie: The Autobiography and he is rumoured to be considering selling the rights to the a film company. He said there were more books to come but of the idea of a film he stated:

“I think it would make quite an interesting one, actually. They’re all saying, ‘who is gonna play you in your movie?’… That’ll be a challenge.”

Ramones manager murdered

Linda Stein, former Ramones manager, was killed yesterday.

Stein, who is the ex-wife of Seymour Stein, the president of Sire Records, is credited with bringing with bringing the Ramones to England which has been called the catalyst for the punk movement in Britain.

Her body was found by her daughter, locked in her apartment with the autopsy finding that she died from blows to the head and neck.

Opeth ready new album

Opeth have finished writing their new album.

The Swedes will be starting the recording process this week and are looking towards an April or May 2008 release. The band will also be releasing their last live CD The Roundhouse Tapes in North America on November 20th.

Super Furries announce New Year gig

The Super Furry Animals will play the Royal Festival Hall on New Year’s Eve.

The Welsh band will play a headline set as well as having some as-yet-unannounced support bands. As if that wasn’t enough to see the new year in, they will be bringing in DJs, art installations and special visual shows. The finished by saying they will change the venue into a “surrealist playground defying the logic of space and time”.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on November 2nd.

Radiohead sign to XL

Radiohead have signed to XL.

The band, who put out In Rainbows as an independent, donation-only release, will be putting out the physical copy on their new label.

There is no release date as yet, with some reports suggesting it will coincide with the December 3rd arrival of the “discbox” edition and others speculating it won’t be out until next year.
