New project from Blood Bros trio

Three members of Blood Brothers are in a new band.

The trio, whose rpevious band split earlier this year, have taken the name Past Lives and have launched a MySpace page though there is no music on it as yet. The band stated:

“We are currently holed up in a Belltown sublet, getting songs together for our first release. We’re all quite excited to be playing music together, and hopefully we’ll have songs up for you to hear soon.”

Portishead preview new material

Portishead previewed some new tracks recently.

The band played Bristol Academy for the first time in almost 10 years and followed their All Tomorrow’s Parties Nightmare Before Christmas shindig which they curated in Minehead. The band will use the new tracks on their upcoming album which is expected around April 2008.

Bob Mould news

Bob Mould will release his new album next February.

The former Husker D frontman will put District Line out on Beggars Banquet and has pencilled in a one-off show at The Roundhouse on January 21st. The first single from the album, The Silence Between Us, will hit the shops on January 28th with the album coming out on February 11th.

Slayer to release new album?

Slayer are planning a new album for 2008.

Reports suggest that the band are to started working on new material for their new album, and will support it by touring the world. The band recently recieved their 3rd Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance, to following their win for Eyes Of The Insane last year.

Monkeys plan one off singles

Arctic Monkeys are planning to record new material soon.

Drummer Matt Helders went on to explain that the band want to record new songs and release them as one-off non-album singles including Sandtrap which was debuted live on their recent tour. Helders said:

“There’s really nothing planned. It just depends how it goes, which is a nice change. We can go into the studio and not necessarily have to have something done by, like, the end of the month. It’ll be like, ‘Just see what happens'”
