Rancid begin recording

Rancid have begun recording their new album.

The band went into the studio with Brett Gurewitz and it has brought them together after they had been concentrating on other projects, such as Tim Armstrong’s solo release A Poet’s Life. The album hasn’t yet been given a title but is expected to hit the shelves at some point later this year.

Darren “Wiz” Brown charity CD

A record of material being worked on by Darren “Wiz” Brown is to be released.

Brown, who was in Mega City Four, Doughboys, Serpico and most recently Ipanema, died unexpectedly in December 2006. However, on his birthday this year, January 18th, a record with material he was working on for an Ipanema CD is being release via mailorder.

All proceeds will go to his partner’s charity so make sure you check it out on Boss Tuneage’s site.

Keith Baxter has died aged 36.

The drummer of 3 Colours Red, who was also in Skyclad, Elevation and briefly Therapy?, died of liver failure on January 4th.
