Kiss blame fans for ruining music

Kiss has claimed fans have killed the record industry.

Gene Simmons of the band explained that they were not recording any new material until illegal downloading stops, claiming downloading is “uncivilised”. He went on to say:

“The record industry is dead. It’s six feet underground and unfortunately the fans have done this. They’ve decided to download and file-share. There is no record industry around so we’re going to wait until everybody settles down and becomes civilised. As soon as the record industry pops its head up we’ll record new material.”

Oh well.

Fucked Up sign to Matador

Fucked Up have signed to Matador Records.

The Toronto band will release their second album The Chemistry Of Common Life, on the label on October 7th. The CD will contain 11 tracks with the vinyl version containing 12. They will also be playing the following dates in the UK:

July 13th – Birmingham – Supersonic Festival
July 14th – London – Water Rats in Kings Cross
August 23th – Reading – Reading Festival
August 24th – Leeds – Leeds Festival

Sex Pistols to release new album?

The Sex Pistols have hinted that they are working on a new album.

The band, who played the Isle Of Wight festival at the weekend, wouldn’t give a definite answer about the rumours that a new album was but hinted they were considering working on new matieral. John Lydon said:

“It’s a nice rumour [that the band will record another album] and it might possibly be true we are attempting to.It’s like all things Sex Pistols – it’s riddled in chaos.You know, who knows what the future will hold? Maybe no future. So far I’ve proved that wrong. I’ve got a splendid future.”

Metallica announce album title

Metallica have announced the title of their new album.

The band unveiled it on their website, where the letters DC were shown on June 9th. The rest of the title was gradually revealed to be Death Magnetic and the Rick Rubin produced record will be released in September. The band are headlining Leeds and Reading in August and are sure to play new material.

Motley New!

Motley Crue have announced a UK release of their ninth studio album.

Saints Of Los Angeles will be their first new album in 10 years featuring all four original members of the group and will be released on June 23rd. Nikki Sixx explained that the record was based on their infamous biography The Dirt, saying:

[It’s] a tale of dirty needles, damaged minds, music industry battles and a whole lotta sex based on our stories from ‘The Dirt‘.”

Police taken to court

The Lancashire Police may have to pay damages after being taken to court.

The Performing Rights Society have accused them of breaking copyright laws saying they have been playing music in their stations, gyms and on the phone to callers without possessing the right license. The matter has been taken to the High Court after Lancashire Police and 11 other police forces refused to pay them.

We wonder if they played N.W.A…
