New Outkast album coming

Big Boi has confirmed there is a new Outkast album in the works.

The rapper has been busy working on his solo album Sir Lucious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty which is set for release this year, but added “For all you Outkast lovers, the album is coming. I’m tired of talking about it, and know y’all are tired of hearing me talk about it. But it’s coming, and the album is fire!”. It’ll be their first since 2003’s massive Speakerboxxx/The Love Below double album.

Flaming Lips reveal guests

The Flaming Lips have announced the guests on their upcoming album.

MGMT and Karen O will both feature on Embryonic, which is to be released in the autumn, though no exact date is confirmed. Wayne Coyle said of the record:

“We have MGMT doing a song with us and we have Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs doing a couple songs with us…For the Karen O tracks, I just called her up in her hotel room and we just did it right over the telephone. It’s pretty absurd.”

The band will also be playing the following UK dates in November:

Lightning Bolt album on its way

Lightning Bolt are to release a new album.

The band’s last was Hypermagic Mountain in 2005 but they announced via their MySpace that they will put out their new record on October 13th entitled Earthly Delight. The band said of the record:

“[It’s] destined to be leaked onto the internet by……hmmm. take a guess, maybe August 31? Early September? You tell me.”

Alberta Cross single news

From their highly-anticipated debut album ‘Broken Side Of Time‘ (out September 21st), Alberta Cross are set to release ‘ATX‘ as a single on September 14th.

“The song came out of a late night drunken jam,” explains singer Petter Ericson Stakee. “The lyrics are about David Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth‘. It’s about being an alien, being out of place.”

The video for the single is culled from live footage of the band’s recent performances at the Coachella and Bonnaroo festivals, plus last month’s two appearances at Brixton Academy.

DMC World Championships info announce

September 11th and 12th will see the Indig02 host this year’s DMC World Finals, the 25th Anniversary.

September 11th will see the Battle For Supremacy take place, with last year’s World Champion DJ Switch defending his title against the planet’s very best Supremacy title holders, including this year’s UK winner – DJ Rasp. The Team Battles also take place on the day, to see who will put their name in lights alongside previous winners turned legends – C2C, Scratch Perverts and Allies.

September 12th will host the DJ Championship World Final, as the worlds best DJs compete for the ultimate accolade! PAs from DJ Q Bert and Rob Swift (Ill Insanity / X-Ecutioners) will also be on hand to wow the crowd and as if that wasn’t enough, DJ Yoda will present a special AV performance with a potted history of the 25 years of DMCs.

Strung Out album details

Strung Out have set a title and release date for their next album.

The record is called Agents of the Underground and is due out September 29, 2009. Jason Cruz said of the album:

“With Agents Of The Underground, I wanted to acknowledge the fact that we are still alive and kicking just below the consciousness of the mainstream media and are celebrating our place here in “The Underground”, Like a resistance movement, we move freely and without boundaries. We say what we feel and do it all our own way, and we’ve done it all this time without radio, without TV, and without the help of a corporate record label. We are the essence of what the punk rock movement started out as and has strayed so far from. We are living proof that you can succeed by doing things your own way.”
