Chickenhawk announce UK tour

Chickenhawk have announced a full scale tour of the UK this march. The Leeds based heavy rock group are currently working on a brand new album due later this year, and are likely to road test some new songs on these dates.

Support for shows tour comes from The Computers, with Outcry Collective completing a fantastic bill. The tour is set to stop at;

Fan seriously injured at The Prodigy show

A man has been seriously injured at The Prodigy’s show in Dundee, after falling 15 feet from the venue’s balcony. The gig took place at Caird Hall on January 24th, as the band continue to play in support of latest album Invaders Must Die.

The man was taken to Ninewells Hospital where his condition has been described as serious, reports BBC news. Meanwhile police are investigating the incident to determine whether he fell or was pushed.

Riot at Metallica show

Approximately 120 overzealous Metallica fans have been arrested after attempting to storm the venue they were playing in Chile.

The band were playing in the South American’s country Club Hipico venue when the incident occurred. Fans were restrained by Carabineros – military officials – who used water sprays to keep them back. As well as around 120 arrests, The Latin American Herald reports that a police officer was also injured.

New Murs album incoming

Fresh off the back his third collaboration with Slug at the end of last year, Living Legends emcee Murs has announced plans to release his fourth record with producer 9th Wonder this March.

The pair have been working together since the 2004 record Murs 3:16, resulting in some of the pairs most fruitful output. The new album is set for release on March 30th, and is reportedly titled ForNever.

Shy Child have announced a UK tour starting in February ahead of a new album the following month. The band will play six dates across Britain, before releasing ‘Liquid Love’ on March 15th.

Devo to play Winter Olympics

New Wave icons Devo will perform at the official 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

While the band have recently been putting finishing touches to a brand new album produced by Santigold, the band will take to the stage at Whistler Medal Plaza on February 22nd. Their performance will be broadcast live on NBC.

Speaking about the gig, singer Mark Mothersbaugh revealed;

“Now, more than ever before, it is time to disobey the mob and think for ourselves,” he explained, adding that the band are aiming “to remind people that biology is destiny, and De-evolution is real! We are back with inspirational tomes of truth and neuro-simpatico sonic nuggets for the entire world, not just our species!”

Animal Collective film trailer

Animal Collective’s forthcoming ‘visual album’ premiered at the Sundance festival last night, but for those who missed it a trailer has appeared online.

The band, who received heaps of critical claim for last year’s Merriweather Post Pavilion and Fall Be Kind, have been working on the project for over 2 years with director Danny Perez. Speaking with nme.com band member Avey Tare reveals a little more;

“It’s kinda like a psychedelic film, it’s not like a narrative film or anything,” adding, “there are more cohesive moments in it, but then there are some that are a little more abstract.”

Sunny Day Real Estate UK show

Recently reformed Seattle emo veterans Sunny Day Real Estate have announced their first ever London date. The show will take place at Kentish Town’s Forum on 22nd April and is likely to form part of a larger European tour.

Having already played re-union shows across America last year, the band appear to be enjoying working together again after splitting up twice in the past. Bassist Nate Mendel (also of Foo Fighters) has revealed that this tour is also likely to be accompanied by new material.

Tickets for the London show go on sale this Friday at 10am.
