Broom Retreat – Eric Thomas
Eric Thomas puts the Boardroom back on the map with this new edit from the Get Lesta massive. Sam North and Chris Straw are now running the show at this indoor playpen in Leicester, go visit them for a day out.

There’s nothing like squeezing every drip out of a well known edit these days but I guess Brandon Westgate’s MADE promo was a bit special. Manolo and his magic Tapes added some metal for this latest remix. Question is though, when does MADE Chapter 2 drop? Surely Figgy, The Boss, Herman, Suski and others have something to give.
Jerome Campbell – Lightworks

Polar’s UK aficionado Jerome Campbell has a new video project titled “Lightworks” online today featuring his skate and photography skills by Format Perspective chief Phil Evans.
In other related Polar news, look out for an interview with artist Jacob Ovgren here soon following his debut art show that is running in London right now.

Alien Workshop pro Gilbert Crockett sits down and explains his part in the ‘Old Dominion’ video in full.
Chris Atherton footage
Just cannot get enough of Chris ‘Avi’ Atherton‘s uploads right now. He proves once again that any shit spot in England is down for a session. It’s in the all seeing eye of course.
A wonderful tribute video has been edited in homage to SF skater Shawn Whisenant who passed recently. His photography and art graced San Francisco’s skate and art scene as remembered here by Kristin Farr, Juxtapoz Magazine’s contributing editor:
“I always talk about Shawn Whisenant as the only true artist I know. The only one who hustles hard to remain an artist in San Francisco with no day job. The only one who answers to nobody and thrives, despite the everyday struggles of living on a shoestring. The only one who sleeps in the back rooms of galleries, makes new friends every day, turns a neighborhood walk into a photo essay, and makes beautiful things out of garbage. The epitome of a real artist, he made stunning work with stories literally sewn into every piece. He collected thousands of bus tickets and “wet paint” signs and turned them into art. Whatever he was doing—zines, photography, skating, sewing, painting, graff, signs, installations—he did it with passion and kindness.
He encouraged and hyped up his friends and their art, and brought them along anytime he was coming up. Paradise to Shawn was art supplies, coffee and a small space to work in. He lived life to the absolute fullest, with art at the center of his world, and he inspired me immensely. Shawn and my husband, Jeff Meadows, were tight friends and collaborators, and the pain of losing Shawn way too soon is as enormous as our love and admiration for the homie. He left this world doing exactly what he loved to do, and he was already a legend.”
RIP.

Mark Suciu gets the remix treatment from his buddy Miguel Valle from Habitat’s ‘Search the Horizon’ part. We could watch this guy skate for hours on end. Fastest feet in the game? Huge bag of tricks? Amazing eye for a spot? Timeless stuff.

News has just broken today regarding the Southbank’s next phase and once again it’s positive for skateboarders fighting to keep the history of the spot intact. Today, Lambeth Council upheld its decision to list the Undercroft as an Asset of Community Value under the ‘Localism Act’ after a claim from the Southbank Centre that it was not relevant.
The new report said:
“At the extreme ends of the spectrum, if the SBC were to close its doors tomorrow, the
skateboarders would in all likelihood continue to use the Undercroft. If the skateboarders disappeared overnight, the Southbank Centre would continue virtually unchanged. The analogy of the children’s play area in the beer garden of a pub was therefore, in the reviewer’s opinion, not a persuasive comparison put forward by SBC. If the pub closed, the children’s play area would also close. If the children’s play area closed, the pub would continue. It is clear what the primary/ancillary use relationship is in this analogy.”
You can read the full public review here. But don’t be swinging your decks in the street just yet as this is far from over. LLSB area heading to the High Court in order to attain the Village Green status to thwart future development and the Southbank Centre refuse to confirm the Undercroft is safe from destruction.
