After the news that Embrace had been selected to do the England World Cup song, Alex James of Blur must have heard the collective groans, as he has said that Fat Les are likely to bring out their own record for the World Cup this summer, with the possiblility of Ian McCulloch joining them.
Alex James recently said that he wasn’t going to do another football record, but after hearing Embrace had been given the task, and with Keith Allen calling, he couldn’t do any worse. With McCulloch having sung “come con, come on, you fucking England” to a Bryan Ferry tune live lately, it wouldn’t be a bad bet to stick some money on that being the unofficial but more loved track in Germany this year.
Damon Albarn, the mastermind behind the musical cartoon wondergroup Gorillaz, has said that he thinks Demon Days is probably the last album the group will make, saying he’s taken the concept as far as it can go.
Wu Tang member Ghostface Killah has done brilliantly for himself with his new album Fishscale, as it debuted in the American top 200 at number 5. The album has shifted over 110,000 units, double the amount his previous album The Pretty Toney Album did. Congratulations go not only to him, but London’s own Lewis Parker, who produced one of the stand out tracks on the album, Shakey Dog.

The Test Icicles have announced they are going to be releasing a special CD/DVD EP called Dig Your Own Grave to mark the end of their career as a group together. Tom Delonge, the former guitarist of now defunct Blink 182, has started a new band with Atom Willard [from the Offspring], Ryan Sinn [formerly of The Distillers] and David Kennedy, his Box Car Racer bandmate. The group, called Angels And Airwaves have announced they will play the Electric Ballroom in Camden on the 27th of April.
