Dan Leech Footage

Footage of the powerful St. Neots lad, Dan Leech is up for hungry eyes on the Silver Trucks website.

If he wasn’t put on the international team for his obliteration of the Buszy’s T Block, then it must have been for the finest example of a backside disaster reeves I’ve ever seen.

Not to mention tanking it before every trick and laying down the force Seagal style! That’s how you do it.

Check the steelo out here.

Strapping Young Lad split

Following the press conference earlier this month where Devin Townsend said both Strapping Young Lad and the Devin Townsend Band were finished, he has posted on his official message board:

“I’m officially burnt out on travelling, touring, and self promotion. I want to produce and make records for an undetermined length of time. Please respect that… I’m sure at some point I’ll get the itch to play, but in the meantime, please respect that I’ve burnt myself out and need to get away from it all.”

Vox Death Destroyer

Once upon a time collaborations didn’t exist in skateboarding, especially when the industry was on fire across the board and the need for collaborations wasn’t as in much demand. But these days as skateboarding becomes core again, the collaboration has emerged as standard practice with all sorts of brands teaming up to bring you something special.

One collaboration that raised eyelids recently is the Vox/Death shoe. Vox have used their Destroyer for this which comes with the famous Death Skateboards skull and crossbones on the side but what are the shoes like? Being used to a gum sole i found them a bit clumpy to start off with but as soon as these broke in they were rocking my feet.

Like any seude shoes, they are gonna go through wear and tear like any other but these held their way throughout a bunch of street skating and mini ramp sessions. Vox mention that the shoes are made from high quality suede or action leather upper plus a thermo plastic toebox reinforcement. Now does this mean that the next time i skate the Antarctic my tootsies will not freeze? God knows but i would probably imagine that they have adequate support for your toes of which was definitely felt whilst riding.

Vox have come a long way in a short time and they will only get better as time goes on. I had a good run in with the Beerhunters at the beginning of the year so Vox have been lurking ontop of my griptape a fair bit this year, let’s hope like Zorlac they ‘keep on keeping on’.

Cat Power – Live

The Forum
01.05.07

I was introduced to the music of Cat Power last year and immediately fell in love with the lyrics and vocals of the amazing Chan Marshall. I could not believe I had missed the last 10 years of music created by this super talented being.

From the moment she appeared on stage at the Forum in Kentish Town, I was seriously moved. Never before have I been so overwhelmed by a musician. She was amazing, her voice, her passion, her incredible lyrics, her quirky little moves and sense of humour, the lot. She has a reason to show off, yet she is subtle and delicate, you might even say tortured.

She captivated the audience immediately, with songs such as Living Proof, The Greatest and Where Is My Love even throwing in her own version of Patsy Cline’s Crazy. We were all mesmerized and when she finished with the stunning Lived In Bars, which is a personal favourite of mine, I felt lucky to have been part of this night. In my opinion, she really is The Greatest.

Jacquelina.
