Concrete Carnival

Yes, that’s right, a carnival to celebrate all things concrete. Like multistory carparks, pavements, and bollards. Or maybe just a skate event that’ll have the same effect as a jackhammer and destroy a small part of Cornwall.

The Vans Concrete Carnival will hit up Kernow’s finest facilities in Penzance and Hayle on August 25th and 26th, with a sponsored and unsponsored comp, Master’s (read ‘oldies’) division, and best trick with pirzes being thrown in from Creature, Oakley, and Independent.

Who do pirates think they’re good at skateboarding? Because they Aaaaarrgh!

50 Cent to retire?

50 Cent has said he will quit working on solo material if Kanye’s new album sells more.

The rappers both have their albums coming out on the same day, 50 Cent’s Curtis and Kanye’s Graduation. In a recent interview Fiddy said:

“Let’s raise the stakes. If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I’ll no longer write music. I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out anymore solo albums.”

Though he has sold more records that Kanye in the past, 50 might want to think about going back on the promise with pre-sales putting Kanye in a very big lead. All we want is for Shaggy, Chakademus & Pliers and Snow to kick them both into retirement…

ETID go wolfy!

Every Time I Die have a new video inspired by Teen Wolf.

If that doesn’t make you want to lick your lips and howl, then you’ve clearly grown up watching the wrong films. The album The Big Dirty is out in early September and the video should be floating around online in the not too distant future.

Tony Wilson dies

The man who changed the face of British music from his empire of the Manchester music scene in the 70’s, Tony Wilson passed away last week after suffering a heart attack.

Championing the likes of the Sex Pistols, Joy Division, and the Happy Mondays, Wilson created the huge music empire surrounding the Hacienda club and the infamous Factory Records label.

His career was documented by Steve Coogan in the film 24 Hour Party People, which shows the highs and lows of his time as one of the greatest music visionaries in British history, Wilson will me sadly missed by all.
