Ian Curtis – 30 years RIP

Today is the day to remember the great work of Ian Curtis, guitarist/vocalist of the classic band Joy Division who died 30 years ago today. In 1976, Curtis bumped into Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook whilst watching the Sex Pistols, the 3 started jamming with drummer Stephen Morris and formed one of the UK’s most memorable indie acts whose success rose to great heights instantly.

After signing to Tony Wilson’s Factory Records and releasing 3 albums they achieved cult status in the Manchester indie scene and far beyond until the day of May 18th 1980 when Curtis decided to commit suicide and was found hanging in the kitchen of his house in Macclesfield and would have been 53 years old today. Look out for the launch of a new box set of 7inch singles that will be released in his honour.

RIP Ian Curtis- a British music legend.

London ripper Aaron Sweeney woke up €4000 better off this morning after winning the Volcom´s TXOTX mini-ramp comp that went down at Durango in the Basque Country this weekend.

By all accounts the skateboarding ripped as you can see from this rock-fakie by Sweeney on the ridiculous over-vert section that was built for this comp- obviously fueled by the lashings of apple cider that was allegedly on offer all weekend. 1º Aaron Sweeney 4000€
2º Alain Goikoetxea 1800€
