Andy Parle recently passed away.
The drummer from Britpop band Space collapsed unexpectedly and died in Liverpool. Former bandmate Dave Palmer said:
“It’s the saddest, most tragic end you could have. Space continued to have success after Andy left but the band changed and lost something which Andy had contributed. Even though we had another brilliant drummer there was something about Andy’s style which was unique.”
The Prodigy will release their new single on August 31st.
Take Me To The Hospital will include remixes from the likes of Sub Focus, Rusko, Losers, Adam F & Horx and even QOTSA frontman Josh Homme.
The third single from their latest album Invaders Must Die has proved a big hit at festivals across this summer and will be available as a CD single, 12″ vinyl and digital download.
Arctic Monkeys have announced they will be releasing their new single through Oxfam.
Crying Lightning, released as a limited edition 7″ and features a cover of the Nick Cave track Red Right Hand will hit every Oxfam store in the country from August 17th and marks the first time Oxfam shops have sold a new release single for 25 years.
The founder of the Monkeys’ label Domino, Laurence Bell said of the news:
“Oxfam is a Great British institution and it’s a delight to be working together on this project. There are about seven hundred Oxfam shops in the UK, many of them in high streets that once housed a record shop, so as well as raising some money for a great cause we are able to get vinyl back onto more of the nation’s high streets, which feels good.”
The Embassy are Sweden’s prime pop professors and designers behind the Göteborg scene, which boasts a wealth of fantastic indie bands such as The Tough Alliance and Studio (who named their own labels after Embassy songs).
This album of shimmery saccharine pop has been lulling the Crossfire stereo into submission with it’s blend of Cures-ish guitars and kitsch Britpop-y electronics. The new-look Wolfmother are set to hit London next week.
Andrew Stockdale will bring the new members over to the UK to play a gig at the Lexington on August 12th. They will be showcasing tracks from their upcoming album Cosmic Egg and the band are expected to announce a full UK tour before the end of the year.

News broke on Saturday that Baatin, of Slum Village, had passed away.
At only 35, it is another huge loss for the world of music but his tunes and legacy will live on. R.I.P.
