Rise To Remain and Sonic Boom Six Added To Merthyr Rock

As festival season begins to draw to a close there is one last event to put in your diary…

31 AUGUST- 2 SEPTEMBER 2012 – MERTHYR ROCK FESTIVAL

Merthyr Rock is independently run and has a strong community focus. Whats more, its pleasing on the eyes, the festival is situated in the beautiful historic Cyfarthfa Park, a public Grade II space in the heart of Merthyr. This boutique festival brings a mix indie, rock, and metal from the UK and further a field.

Sonic Boom Six

Today two additions to the line up have been announced; increasingly popular metalcore quintet Rise To Remain and Sonic Boom Six who combine a vast array of genres to produce an electric performance. They will join Exit Ten, Yashin, Skindred alongside others on the main stage on Saturday. The rest of the line up is as follows:

Axewound Reveal New Album Details and Tour Dates


Axewound, heralded as ‘the supergroup to slay all supergroups’ have announced details of a debut full length and UK tour.

The band, lead by Liam Cormier of Cancer Bats, Matt Tuck of Bullet For My Valentine on guitar/backing vocals, Mike Kingswood of Glamour of the Kill on guitar, Joe Copcutt formerly of Rise to Remain playing bass and Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter on drums, were unveiled on May 1st 2012 via BBC Radio 1 Rock Show when their debut single ‘Post Apocalyptic Party’ was aired.

After a string of successful festival appearances this summer, AxeWound have announced their debut album Vultures will be released on October 1st via Search And Destroy/RCA (Search And Destroy being the new label from Sony Music and Raw Power Management that also has Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco & While She Sleeps under their trusted wings). Matt Tuck has also revealed that Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates will guest on one song on the upcoming album, adding more superstar names to the mix.

In support of the album release, Axewound will perform the following dates:

Hevy Festival announce first line up

hevyfestival2011We had a rad time at Hevy Fest last year and this year looks set to compete with a line-up that shows great potential for another fun weekend packed with great music.

Back in Port Lympne in Kent, at the Wild Animal Park, Saturday night will be co-headlined by The Dillinger Escape Plan and Architects. Dillinger aren’t even doing any other European festivals this summer. NONE! The rest of the line-up is looking like this so far:

The Dillinger Escape Plan (European Festival Exclusive), Architects (co-headline), Bouncing Souls, We Are The Ocean, Zebrahead, Capdown, Ceremony (UK Festival Exclusive), Polar Bear Club, Your Demise, Rise To Remain, Touche Amore (UK Festival Exclusive), La Dispute (UK Festival Exclusive), November Coming Fire, Awaken Demons (UK Festival Exclusive), Man Overboard, Lemuria, Brutality Will Prevail, Spycatcher, Death Is Not Glamorous, Rot In Hell, Polar, Cheap Girls, Heart In Hand, Hang The Bastard and Hildamay.

Weekend camping tickets are priced at £89 and will include free entry to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park for the weekend. Tickets will be available online from www.hevy.co.uk / 0843 221 0100 / and from selected HMV stores across the UK.

Probably worth it for Dillinger, Architects, Ceremony, Polar Bear Club, Touche Amore and La Dispute alone. OK, that’s quite a lot already. Roll on the announcement of the rest of the 80 band strong bill!
