What a week it has been for celebrity deaths- rock and roll legend Ronnie James Dio, Paul Gray bassist of Slipknot, Gary Coleman of Different Strokes and it has emerged tonight that Hollywood legend Dennis Hopper has also passed leaving us with memories of his legendary career as an actor and director. The Easy Rider star had been battling prostate cancer and died at his home in Venice Beach this morning surrounded by friends and family.
Hopper loved caning it and was once quoted to say that “over-indulgence was a requirement for great artists” and once claimed he snorted lines of cocaine “as long as your arm every five minutes, just so I could carry on drinking … gallons” of alcohol.
He starred in many cult films such as Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, Rebel Without a Cause and True Romance also appeared as a guest on Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz album, enjoy this live clip from Harlem and celebrate the losses of people who have given a lot to the world of entertainment. RIP.
