It has been revealed that Scottish group Franz Ferdinand were offered $50m to have their music used in an advertising campaign but the band turned it down, because they wanted to keep their integrity.
This comes just a week or so after Jack White’s work for Coca-Cola was premiered and reports are that doing this campaign would have quadrupled sales of Franz’s last album You Could Have It So Much Better. Frontman Alex Kapranos said:
“It wasn’t Coca-Cola or anything like that. It was just a thing that needed some music associated with it. We just had to say no because of the gut reaction.”
