Alai Street tech

Whilst some people take the stance of “came, saw and conquered” when it comes to skating in Spain, the homegrown talent is shredding it up on the regular and on the down-low.

Alai have announced two new riders from the Almeria region, Manolo Robles and Fran Marina, and judging by their intro video they are not kidding around. Switch frontside tailslide switch frontside 360 kickflip out??? Oh shit!

Britain’s worst skatepark!

After the amazing success of the Milton Keynes Bus Station plaza, it would seem like the local council got a little carried away with the idea of building skateboard facilities when they signed the cheque for this.

What the f***???

Let this be a very important lesson to all cities, councils, towns AND skateboarders to work together and avoid wasting tax payers money and prevent foolish accidents.

A good place to get advice when it comes to getting your skate facility built is the United Kingdom Skateboard Association – UKSA.

Gnar Gnar

In an age of super slick audio visual production, you have to look towards the avant-garde imagination for inspiration.

In skateboarding you need look no further than Mark Gonzales. The Gonz has brought 1000 videos – Yes, video NOT DVD – copies that roll in with 20 minutes of him and his Krooked pals getting their Grar Gnar on.

Is this the future of skatevideos? Will limited edition VCR magnetic tape kill off the download beast..? Who knows…

Plan B Battle of the Buszy

The horn is sounding for all street technicians and ghetto gymnasts to make their way to the Milton Keynes Bus Station “Buszy” plaza for the Plan B Battle on June 2nd.

So far £1200 has been gathered as prize money for the best trick event that will focus on the T-Block, Manny pad and Stairs/Ledge areas. There will also be loads of free stuff for the unsponsored skaters in attendance.

This event looks like a time to shine for all those hours you might have worked away at the blocks.

Create a skate

One man is taking skateboarding to school.

Paul Schmitt is the man behind skateboard manufacturing and can count approximately 10 million boards made since he began some 25 years ago at age 14.

Paul has launched the Create a Skate Program that serves as an academic course teaching kids the mathematics, science, theory and practice that’s involved in skateboard manufacturing. The course is only available in the United States at the moment.

Thanks to Skate Daily for the heads up on this wicked program.

Inertia for free

You might remember a while back, we mentioned a skate crew known as Inertia who was busy filming for a video entitled Initiative.

Well we’re a little slow on the case, but this scene video is free to watch and download. It isn’t epic, but it’s cool to see scenes get together and do something. There’s even a rollerblader, so you know the crew is tight!

The video features Santiago Pilgrim, Ashley Humphrey, Sam Evans, Little Ben, George Fisher, Mark Webster, James Backshall and more.
