Laurie Sherman Skateboarding 1996 to 2002

laurie_sherman_Richie_Hopson

Now here’s a treat coming from the archived tapes of Jake Barker from yesteryear featuring our good pal Laurie Sherman. If you knew this man then you’d know that he gives everything and is one of the best pals to have in the back of the car on a trip. His laid back approach to life is slightly different to when he steps on a rig as you will see from this footage shot between 1996 and 2002.

Still got it too. Good work Jake.

Hackers can now take control of skateboards

hacking_skateboards

Security bods with nothing better to do than to spend time programming a way into taking over the control of skateboards are set to present their work in a technology nerd-off in a Las Vegas shindig this weekend.

All twonks that ride bluetooth-enabled electric skateboards are now under attack from hackers who have found an exploit in the way the bluetooth is saturated with radio frequency noise. In some of the lab tests they carried out, they were able to seize control of a board from jamming the signal from up to 30 meters away, stopping it dead, slamming it into reverse or speeding it up. Genious.

Let’s hope they make an app for it. Upending bellends who chose to ride these things because they were too stupid to learn how to pop an ollie sounds like the most fun ever.

Door covered in rare skateboarding stickers on Ebay

door_skate_stickers_skateboard

Everyone at some point of their life covered something wall to wall in skate stickers. If you didn’t, you blew it, but now’s your chance to cheat as this door has hit Ebay this week and will be sold to the highest bidder.

This 8ft high wooden beast contains various layers of rare stickers between the periods of 1986 – 2012. Look closely and you will find a Save Southbank sticker from 1988, original Supreme, Slam City Skates, Powell Peralta, Mo Wax, Beastie Boys, Stussy, R.A.D, M-Zone and Banksy stickers. I even spotted the sticker that was given away at the video premiere of Public Domain hosted at the Marquee Club. Deep cultural history is stuck on here, up to 5 stickers deep in some places. Do you want it?

Its loving owner, who has moved houses with this since living at home with his parents, is reluctant to let it go without meeting its new owner on collection from North Acton, West London. The question is, what is it worth? What would you pay for it? Let us know in the comments below and bid for it here.

Good luck.
